The pile of rocks turned out to be a living dragon-like lizard. It rolls up in a ball and charges.

Living in the high mountains, rock lizards live slow sedentary lives feeding off bird eggs and other creatures that live in high mountains, ambushing them by waiting for them to walk by the innocuous rocks, only for the rocks to snap them up in their wide mouthed jaws. When approached by opponents at equal or lower level then they, they roll into balls and become an avalanche of rolling rocks crushing all which stands before them.

Rock lizards are not intelligent, and do not speak. They are quite heavy, rocking in at 600 lbs.

Combat

Rock lizards attack from surprise, using their extreme durability to weather most blows. If the surface is even with, or sloped down, they will turn into rolling rocks and crush their opponents with sudden extreme speed.

Flattened Stance (Ex): Rock lizards are very low to the ground, making them quite stable. They gain a +4 Stability bonus like a dwarf. This doesn't count for the +4 for being quadruped, for a total of +8. However, if they are bull rushed, they instinctively curl into a ball. See rollout.

Rollout (Ex): As a full attack action the rock lizard can curl into a ball and charge. In this form, its speed increases to 60 ft, but it cannot turn as easily. It effectively gains the flight maneuverability of clumsy, restricted onto land. Rollout is effectively a trample attack, but those who are struck (or who fail the Reflex save if an evade is attempted) are pushed as if bull rushed and fall prone. The rock lizard does not follow bull rushed creatures.

The rock lizard instinctively curls up whenever it is not firmly on the ground. If successfully bull rushed itself, the amount they are pushed is twice as far as normal as they roll away.

Universal Damage Reduction (Ex): The rock lizard's damage applies to all forms of damage and not just physical attacks.
