Rod of Rhythm

Rod of Rhythm
Price: 6,000 gp
Body Slot: Held
Caster Level: 9th
Aura: Moderate Evocation
Activation: Use-activated and Standard
Weight: 8

A wooden rod with a rounded tip, it is actually two rods stuck together which may be separated and dual wielded. Striking surfaces induces vibrations that weaken structures and creatures alike.

The rod of rhythm acts as a +1 light mace, but as a free action you can split it into two light maces with identical weapon enhancements as if it had the Paired enhancement. Re-attaching the sticks is also a free action, but you can only pull apart or stick together once per round. Beyond its use as a beatstick, it provides the following magical effects, all which produce noise and give a -20 penalty to Move Silently checks for as long as they last.

Air Drums: You can use these sticks on air, as if you were using drums. This allows you to play drums even without carrying drums around.

Bad Vibrations: To use this ability you must be using both sticks at once. When in your melee reach, make a Perform (Percussion) check of DC 10 for objects, or DC equal to a creature's AC. You wail upon the object or creature, reducing an objects hardness or a creature's DR by half for 1 round. This is a standard action, and does not provoke attacks of opportunity.

Cymbal Crash: To use this ability you must be using the stick as a unified whole. Make a single touch attack, and as part of the attack you can channel any [Sonic] spell within it (provoking for casting as normal). The spell in question is altered to only affect the single target, and acts as a weapon-like touch spell. If no spell is cast through it, it instead deals 1d6 sonic damage + any weapon enhancements, and deafens for 5 rounds on a natural 20.

Marching Band: As a standard action you begin a performance (DC 15 Perform Percussion check) that you can maintain as a free action. You and all allies in a 60 ft radius match speed with the highest ally, but only for the purpose of overland movement (and it does not grant a speed a creature does not already have). When used in combat, instead it reduces speed from difficult terrain or caltrop wounds to 2/3rd (as if they were wearing heavy armor), 1/2 if they are already wearing heavy armor, or 1/4th normal speed if their speed would be reduced to 5 ft (minimum 10 ft). This can be used in either form, and you cannot employ any other rod effects until you cease using this performance.

This rod counts as a masterwork tool for Perform (percussion) checks. In addition you can still perform somatic components if your hands are full with this rod.

Prerequisites: Craft Rod, create sound, shatter.
Cost to Create: 3,000 gp, 240 EXP, 6 days.
