This odd, lumpy creature appears to be hewn from fresh snow and festively adorned with carrots, sticks, scarfs and other strange articles. Bearing the hallmarks of clumsy craftsmanship and brought to life by minor sorcery, these constructs appear to be celebratory.

Snowmen are a cultural end-of-year phenomenon amidst certain humanoid races living in snowy winter climates. Even when animated with magic they are fairly unthreatening, but some snowmen with particularly sharp branches for arms might leave a big scratch.

Combat[edit]

Snowmen are rarely animated for any sort of serious task, but if called upon to fight or to defend, they will shuffle towards would-be enemies to deliver largely non-lethal pain. Unless outfitted with sharp branches for arms (which are treated as improvised weapons with a -4 penalty to attack and damage rolls) all of a snowman's attacks – including its snowball – deal nonlethal damage.

On days with temperatures above the freezing point, a snowman will take 2 points of damage. Snowmen cannot recover damage dealt to them.

Snowball: A snowman can pull out a lump of its own snow to lob it at its target as a full-round action. This attack deals the indicated amount of nonlethal damage in a 5-foot-radius spread, but also deals damage to the snowman itself. This damage is 2 points for a little snowman, 3 for a regular snowman and 6 for a big snowman. The save DC is Strength based.

Creating a Snowman[edit]

It's easy really. A snowman's body is constructed, unsurprisingly, from snow readily found in the surrounding area. Added ornaments are also negligible in price. Animating the snowman requires a 10-minute ritual involving a spell with the Cold descriptor; a little snowman requires a cantrip, a regular snoman a 1st-level spell, and a big snowman a 2nd-level spell, as well as added material components valuing at 5 gp (little), 15 gp (regular), or 50 gp (big). Creating snowmen does not require the Craft Construct feat, but the creator needs at least one item creation feat to understand the principles behind animating matter.
