Sublime Blacksmith

You are a maker of legendary blades.

Class: Sublime Samurai

Level: 1-20

Replaces: Weapon Proficiencies, Ancestral Weapon, Ancestral Blessing, Lesser Artifact, Artifact Weapon

Benefit: You are proficient in any weapon you create, but you are no longer proficient in medium armors.

Craftsman: A Sublime Blacksmith gains a bonus on Craft checks and Profession (Blacksmith) checks equal to half their level, rounded down (minimum +1).

Weapons of Legend: When crafting a masterwork weapon, the Sublime Blacksmith may imbue extra work into it to make it a Weapon of Legend. Any class feature that would normally work with their Ancestral Weapon instead functions with any of their Weapons of Legend. You may only have one Weapon of Legend of any given type of weapon at a time (so if you have a Weapon of Legend longsword, you cannot create another until it is destroyed or gifted). Creating a Weapon of Legend requires an additional 100 gp per class level as per recreating an Ancestral Weapon. You begin play with one Weapon of Legend of your choice. Weapons of Legend must always be masterwork. You may, upon finding a suitable wielder, gift them with one of your Weapons of Legend, if you do, you do not need to pay the additional cost to create your next Weapon of Legend.

When a Weapon of Legend is gifted away, it loses any bonus from Legendary Craftsman, Lesser Artifact, and Smith of Legend, except they weapons still bypass damage reduction as they did and as noted below.

Legendary Craftsmanship: At level 4, your Weapons of Legend count as magical for bypassing damage reduction. Additionally, you gain the benefits of Ancestral Blessing of a Sublime Samurai 4 levels lower than your Sublime Blacksmith level.

Lesser Artifact: At level 10 and again at level 15, you may create a Weapon of Legend that is a lesser artifact. While it can be reduced to 0 hp and rendered inert, it cannot actually be destroyed. The weapon and its abilities continue to function in an antimagic field. Your Lesser Artifact Weapons of Legend maintain the Legendary Craftsmanship bonus of a Sublime Blacksmith of half your level even after you have given them away or you have died. Additionally, all of you Weapons of Legend bypass an additional form of damage reduction of your choice (alignment, material, or damage type).

Smith of Legend: At level 20, you have created a true Artifact. This artifact always maintains your full Legendary Craftsmanship bonus even after given away or you have died. Your Weapons of Legend now bypass all forms of damage reduction other than DR/- or DR/Epic.
