These beautiful, semi-transparant undead creatures are the vestigial remains of young virgin women that died in regret, in jealous murder or with unfulfilled loves, usually during daytime. Maintaining a strong connection to the natural world, with their beauty still radiating soundly through the hint of their decay, they dwell and haunt noon-lit fields and glades and vengefully attack those still alive in a misguided fury.

Sunmaidens are rare undead that haunt the day instead of the night, often appearing in secluded fields where natural beauty permeates. They roughly have the same size and shape as human women, although their bodies are vaguely transparant and luminous, with the beginnings of decay showing on the edges of their face. Occasionally, sunmaidens who maintain an unusually strong connection to the living world do not yet know that they have passed on, and often linger near the sunlit fields where they have breathed their last in life, appearing only by day and disappearing by night. As such, Sunmaidens advanced to 10 HD or more will return to haunt after being 'slain' the day after. To excise these forlorn entities from their haunts forever, they must realize their state and be convinced to pass on.

Combat

Sunmaidens attack with light gathered from the sun and concentrated into rays and beams. Sunmaidens themselves are immune to all magical and supernatural light effects (including their own sun rays and sunbeams).

Radiant Aura (Su): When shone upon by the sun from above, the body of a sunmaiden is wrapped in an aura of refracted sunlight extending out in a 10-foot radius around her. This luminous aura grants her concealment (20% miss chance) and automatically counters and dispels any magical darkness effect in its area. While inside a sunmaiden's radiant aura, any creature sensitive or vulnerable to light in any form incurs the negative effects for exposure to bright daylight listed in their statistics.

When a sunmaiden's radiant aura is inactive (during times of evening or night or in an area of antimagic), she loses her fast healing and deflection bonus to AC, as well as her sun ray and sunbeam special attacks.

Sun Ray (Su): Once per round as a standard action, a sunmaiden is capable of bending and concentrating the light she catches from the sun and releasing it into the shape of a harmful ray of searing light (CL 8th).

Sunbeam (Su): Once every 1d4 rounds, a sunmaiden may convert one usage of its sun ray ability into a 60-foot line, affecting every creature caught within it. This functions as a single instance of the sunbeam spell (DC 20 Reflex half or negates, CL 8th). Associated save DCs are Charisma-based.
