Swordcerer

Swordcerer uses the Functional Weapons of Legacy variant rule.

A rich businessman once desired to live forever and heard of the legend of the lich. He decided that the ability to feel or taste was more than worth eternal life. Unfortunately for him, he had no talent for the magical arts, but he was rich beyond compare and sought out magicians near and far to help him achieve his goals. Being a canny man, he thought it only good sense to go with the cabal that quoted him the lowest price. Being a practical man, he decided a tool of some sort would be more useful than a piece of jewelry or something else frivolous. Being a diligent man, he wanted it able to communicate so if his body were destroyed he could still conduct business. Being a gullible man, he didn't realize the cabal he hired was full of shysters barely more magically inclined than he. During the final rite, there was a magical accident that was only possible through gross incompetence from many people, and the souls and minds of all involved were imbued into his intended phylactery, a +1 Deep Crystal Shortsword.

As various rituals are made and power is gained, the weapon starts taking on stronger powers. There are five rituals that are performed when unlocking this weapon's power. They must be performed in order (the 2nd ritual must be completed before you start the 3rd, even if you achieve the 3rd level prerequisites). Rituals cost gold (in the form of feeding the weapon raw materials) and xp, with an additional prerequisite. Once the 1st level ritual is unlocked, the sword displays its omen effect. You can take time out and spend 8 hours bringing the weapon to the next level once you have the prerequisites.

Swordcerer is a unique magic item, on its way to becoming an artifact. While it has a price, it cannot be completely destroyed. If reduced to 0 hp, it instead falls inert in a broken condition, and unable to be used until repaired, but is not destroyed as items usually are. It is treated as an artifact against the effects of mage's disjunction. Additionally, if Swordcerer is ever the target of a Resurrection effect, it is immediately broken and the creators are all brought back to life.

Omen: Swordcerer starts glowing magically when drawn.

Cost to Create: Unique item, cannot be created.

1st Ritual (Sorcerer Supreme)

Hedge Wizard (Su): Swordcerer can now cast spells as if it were a level 1 Sorcerer with 11 Cha. Its spell list is 0th - mage hand, ghost sound, prestidigitation, detect magic; 1st - magic missile, silent image.

Enhancement Bonus (Su): Swordcerer becomes a +2 weapon in addition to any special ability it gained.

Prerequisites: BAB +3 OR Bluff 6 ranks, the wielder must have convinced someone else they have access to some kind of supernatural ability.

Cost: 4,000 gp, 80 xp.

2nd Ritual (Awakening the Unfettered Mind)

Wild Talents (Ps): Swordcerer can now manifest powers as if it were a level 1 Psion with 11 Int. Its power list is 1st - skate, entangling ectoplasm, sense link.

Intelligentish Blade (Su): Swordcerer gains the Intelligent enhancement, except that its mental ability scores are all 11 instead of the wielder's, and the extra usable standard action can only be used to cast a spell from Swordcerer.

Prerequisites: BAB +6 OR Bluff 9 ranks, the wielder must take on one job and fail to do it.

Cost: 8,000 gp, 640 xp.

3rd Ritual (Unequaled Faith)

Snake Handler (Su): Swordcerer can now cast spells as if it were a level 1 OraclePathfinder with 11 Cha. Its spell list is 0th - create water, light, detect poison, purify food and drink; 1st - cure wounds, obscuring mist.

Office Pet Template:EX: The user of the blade gains Obtain the Worst Familiar as a bonus feat.

Enhancement Bonus (Su): Swordcerer becomes a +3 weapon in addition to any special ability it gained.

Crossreferencing (Ex): Swordcerer gains a +1 bonus to all of its caster levels and equivalents. It also counts as a masterwork ability tool for every ability score.

Prerequisites: BAB +9 OR Bluff 12 ranks, the wielder must hire someone to write a report on different schools of magic and discard it without reading as part of the ritual.

Cost: 18,000 gp, 720 xp.

4th Ritual (Body without Compare)

Initiate of the Nine Swords (Ex): Swordcerer can now initiate maneuvers as if it were a level 1 WarbladeToB with an 11 in every ability score. It cannot recover maneuvers in battle. Its maneuver list is 1st - sapphire nightmare blade (Strike), steel wind (Strike), sudden leap (Boost), punishing stance (Stance)

Intelligentisher Blade (Su): Swordcerer gains an additional standard action per combat with the same restrictions as Intelligentish Blade. You can only use one extra standard action a turn, and they must be from different sources. Additionally, Swordcerer may now use your ability scores for save DCs (but no other purposes) if higher.

True Crystal (Ex): Swordcerer gains the Crystalforged weapon Template and the Material Composite (Kinesicrystal) weapon Enhancement. Loregems and Cognizance Crystals may be slotted into a Weapon Crystal slot, granting additional spells known or power points, respectively.

Prerequisites: BAB +12 OR Bluff 15 ranks, the wielder must take over or incorporate a guild or company.

Cost: 32,000 gp, 1,280 xp.

5th Ritual (Soul of the World)

Whisperer of the True Speech (Ex): Swordcerer can now speak utterances as a level 1 TruenamerToM with 11 Int and 4 ranks in Truespeak. Its utterance list is 1st - inertia surge.

Intelligentishest Blade (Su): Swordcerer may now use an additional standard action every round with the same restrictions as Intelligentish Blade. It is still limited to one extra standard action a turn, and you cannot use abilities from the same source two rounds in a row. Additionally, Swordcerer may now use your ability scores if higher for all purposes. This includes getting bonus spells and power points per day.

Improved Crossreferencing (Ex): Swordcerer gains an additional +1 bonus to all of its caster levels and equivalents. It also counts as a masterwork skill tool for every skill.

Prerequisites: BAB +15 OR Bluff 18 ranks, the wielder publically offer a payment for someone to write a legend about themselves and hire only the lowest bidder.

Cost: 50,000 gp, 2,000 xp.
