Ghostwheel dislikes this article and rated it 1 of 4.
This rating refers to a substantially different version of the article, or concerns mentioned in it have already been addressed.
This is pretty bad from a balance point of view; it has close to the power of a net, without any of the net's downsides. At the very least, limit this at 1 per action like how nets work.

Bolas: 5gp; 3lbs; finesse, light, range 20/60 Bolas can be used on large or smaller creatures. A hit results in the target being grappled and delivers 1d4 bludgeoning damage. A fail on a DC 12 Dexterity check (at disadvantage if the creature took a move action on its last turn) results in the creature falling prone and receiving an additional 1d4 bludgeoning damage. A creature can take a full turn action to untangle itself unless it has an intelligence of 3 or lower. Alternatively, a creature can make a DC 18 strength check or deal 5 slashing damage (AC 10) to the bolas without harming itself but destroying the bolas. If successful, the creature is longer grappled.

To Ghostwheel's points - The intent was to make it similar to, but distinct from a net. It does damage, but does not restrain (only grapples). But I take your point about the size, but a bola should be no more difficult to use than a sling (less since you don't have to load it). I will consider a change about the size. --Rlyehable (talk) 23:23, 12 August 2019 (MDT)
To 172.58.45.204 suggestion - A little too complicated IMHO. DC 18 check seems far to high. --Rlyehable (talk) 23:23, 12 August 2019 (MDT)
I have reworked the article. I have removed the light weapon and versatile properties. I have changed the automatic grapple on a hit to a Dex saving throw to avoid the effect. I have kept the target size of Large or smaller because traditionally bolas have been used on cattle (which are large creatures). --Rlyehable (talk) 09:15, 13 August 2019 (MDT)

Point taken. Added net's verbiage to restrict to only 1 attack. --Rlyehable (talk) 09:34, 13 August 2019 (MDT)
