:::::And that's intended. This is somewhat designed either to keep your ally from being truly dead, buying you time to get him to a Cleric or the like (As well as giving that player something to do instead of twiddling their thumbs while the rest of the party gets to keep adventuring without them), and it can be used to raise a dead enemy to ask questions at a heavy cost, like a low-level version of ''Speak With Dead'' for Arcane casters. Force?[edit]

Why the Force tag? -- Eiji-kun (talk) 09:41, 28 September 2016 (UTC)

I am amused, but...[edit]

There's too much accounting in this spell, ticking away tiny amounts of hit points that have been determined by rolling a bunch of d4s. Change the spell so it requires a bit less tracking of fiddly little details, and I think it would make a fun discount raise dead. --Foxwarrior (talk) 16:04, 28 September 2016 (UTC)

Well, I wanted a bit of randomness so that it 1) Leeches away from the caster and makes them fragile for awhile, only recovering as their life force slowly shifts back to them from the zombie as the spell lessens, and 2) the raised character never knows when exactly they're going to croak again. I have revised the spell a couple times already, as I'm still not sure I have the spell where I want it, so feel free to point out messy spots. Zhenra-Khal (talk) 13:05, 29 September 2016 (UTC)
Yeah, way too many little modifiers to keep track of as it is. You could potentially make it as simple as the spell forcing a d% roll with a failure chance of 10% per day since revival (up to, maybe, a maximum of 50%) in order to avoid deteriorating, resulting in death if the roll is failed too many times. For the rest, all the little modifiers may not be necessary. In addition to this, just reviving the target, making him unsuceptible to heals, and having him incur the penaties you want seems to be enough to make this an okay spell. --Sulacu (talk) 13:19, 29 September 2016 (UTC)
Duration and HP updated; But the spell failure is the way it is for a reason to be honest, to restrict the character from using horribly powerful spells, but Raise Dead only has a 50% chance of failure, so if your Cleric dies, and you need him? Slap him with this spell and he can Raise Dead himself the next day. I did, however, think about the character suffering a CL penalty, -1 per day that has passed, but eh. Lots of little things to keep up with.
I plan to make a 5th-, 6th- or 7th-level Improved/Greater version that raises the dead as a pseudo-vampire instead, weakening them in sunlight but they can at least now heal via Con-sucking enemies. Zhenra-Khal (talk) 11:51, 30 September 2016 (UTC)
