Talk:Compensate for Size (3.5e Feat)

BalanceEdit

Might this be better at fighter-level, do you think? --Ghostwheel 02:38, February 9, 2010 (UTC)

I do think that might be a better fit, but I don't think it would affect my perspective enough to change it to Excellent. -- Jota 06:26, February 9, 2010 (UTC)
Eh, I don't mind--I think it's more important that things are assigned their correct balance rating than what their favor is :-) --Ghostwheel 06:29, February 9, 2010 (UTC)

RatingsEdit

The feat is good, but the kicker is replacing Clever Wrestling. Thank god, that feat, with the subsequent requirement for that PrC, blooooows.
The Dire Reverend likes this article and rated it 3 of 4.
This feat made my small disarming character useful.

Jota is neutral on this article and rated it 2 of 4.
This feat has a legitimate purpose and accomplishes to an extent what it sets out to do, but it seems subpar even in that regard. What I mean by that is, I don't question its usefulness across levels (a quick look at the SGT will show this will allow a Medium character focused on grappling can go about 50/50 with most larger monsters without meticulous optimization), I just think that people who are going to be avoiding grappling will do it without spending a valuable feat, and people who will be grappling will benefit more from investing resources in becoming big themselves (which helps them against the entirety of the field, not just Large and larger monsters) rather than by trying to maximize their potential at Medium size. Furthermore, there will always be a few extreme monsters that are just too strong for you to have a prayer against, in which case more traditional methods, such as freedom of movement, will still be viable, whereas this will not be.

Truly AbsurdEdit

Have you ever seen a shrunken Gnome wrestle the animated statue of Abraham Lincoln to the floor? Now you can! Well, I guess Size-based Strength modifier make this a little bit harder. --Foxwarrior 19:40, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
