Ray or Line?

Text implies line, but it says ray. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 01:43, 10 April 2021 (UTC)

That's the word! Changing it, thanks! -The bluez in the dungeon (talk) 06:20, 10 April 2021 (UTC)

The spell is pretty bland as it is. I was thinking of changing it so that the line is far shorter, but range and maybe radius may become bigger with more gems. Any thoughts?

Well as it is, it's basically lightning bolt (shorter actually) with a rare type, and upcharged. That's fair, as there's prescience for that (Cacophonic Burst is Sonic Fireball) and its further downscaled in die. Honestly I think you could ease up on one of those nerfs and keep 4th, but that's neither here no there. What does interest me is the (somewhat pricy) material component for what is otherwise a bog standard evocation. So with that in mind, if you're looking for inspiration I'll steal this one attack from Blazblue that sounds similar to this.
You can cast it for free, 30 ft line, no special effects. Ok. But if you add like.... a 50 gp crystal (or 100, or whatever), you get another 30 ft at the end of it and can tilt the line up to 90 degrees. Do it with more cash, and you get more length and more ability to bend it around. This gives you a reason to sometimes spend a bit, and gives you some tactical crowd control that otherwise would require metamagic, and the fluff of reflecting lasers around in prisms. Make some fancy patterns, hitting all the enemies while weaving around your allies. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 15:02, 10 April 2021 (UTC)
