Hit Dice Accuracy

The hit dice has to be 7, not 6. You've given an entry for its size advancement which includes 7 as the starting value, and its Base Attack Bonus is 7. -—Preceding unsigned comment added by 38.75.232.190 (talkcontribs) at

Alright, let's take a look at the monster and find out where the error lies to find out what the author intended Hit Dice value should be. We can't check saves, since those don't grow between 6 and 7 HD. We can check skills, which line up with 6 HD. We can check HP, which line up with 6 HD. We can check its attack which is... calculated incorrectly. It's Large (–1), with +4 Strength, and either +6 or +7 to from BAB, which would be either +9 or +10, not the +11 listed. As the monster looks to be an intended variation/downgrade of the wyvern, it may have been copied and edited from that stat block when created and may have had some revisions during that process. With the attack calculation already goofed, and the Advancement entry is for additional dice, not its current dice (like on the SRD:Wyvern) as one higher than its hit dice, that appears to be where the confusion set in.
I reverted the change earlier to protect author integrity and didn't have time to leave a message (the duties of life and all). Given that there wasn't a message at the time from the editor to explain their reasoning, it was reverted. It looked like a haphazard addition of a Hit Die (considering it didn't alter skills, HP gained from Con, the Advancement entry...), and it was. I'll try fixing it based on the evidence in the entry. Thanks for the concern, just make sure to check things over and leave a note on the talk page in the future, or just bring it up since someone might actually have some insight on the situation. --Ganteka Future (talk) 00:14, 20 August 2022 (UTC)
