Hi! mmm. Espada Ropera fills an important gap in D&D 3.5. It's a well-balanced weapon and, since exotic, provides interesting Weapon Art. It is a good creation overall, my friend Leziad! The point is that Espada Ropera, with 1d8 damage, is not a Rapier, but a more refined and elaborated weapon. So it can no way be considered as a Rapier fot the purpose of feats such as Weapon Focus and class features. A Cut and Thrust Sword, a Cutlass and a Basket-hilt Broadsword can be basically used as a longsword (as the official D&D 3.5 manual "Arms and Armor" suggests) since they all share similaries in shape, lenght, weight and machanics (1d8 damage and 19/20x2 damage). Rapier and Espada Ropera has different characteristics and mechanics, so they are not the same weapon and cannot be treated as equal.

Trivia

Did you know that in D&D, the rapier is actually a cutlass? I know that's stupid, but it is. I think the original artist forgot to draw the rapier and drew a cutlass instead and it just got labeled that way in the PHB. --Ganteka Future (talk) 21:15, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
