Entice Gift

This is the entice gift spell from SpC, but at level lower. But why? -- Eiji-kun 15:41, 16 August 2012 (UTC)

Probably because it's an extremely specific and short lived version of suggestion, which is two full spell levels above it. I wonder why SR isn't allowed though.
Also, no [Language-Dependent] tag? - Tarkisflux Talk 21:16, 10 September 2012 (UTC)
That seems fine though for Entice Gift, because what the request is. In many cases, "give me your weapon" isn't reasonable, which Entice Gift bypasses. Seems like a fair trade to me. -- Eiji-kun 21:35, 10 September 2012 (UTC)
The "reasonable" limitation never really seemed like much of a limitation with suggestion to me, since you can word "give me your weapon" in terms like "surrender and lets talk this out". - Tarkisflux Talk 21:53, 10 September 2012 (UTC)
We seem to be in disagreement there, I don't think that's reasonable at all for most hostiles, unless there was already a possibility of talking them down in the first place. Most encounters I know are the "lifelong enemy/unrepentant bandit/raging monster" variant. -- Eiji-kun 23:16, 10 September 2012 (UTC)

What Tarkis said. Additionally, 'reasonable' is so rubber a term, I don't think it belongs in any discussion of rules. The reason why this lacks [Language-Dependent] is that it's meant to be a gesture. Likely means the spell needs renaming, though. - MisterSinister 00:16, 11 September 2012 (UTC)

[Edit Conflict] - That's an ok reason to bring this down a bit actually, to better mesh with the weird set of expectations that are the attitude "system". So I suggest that you add "non-hostile" to the target line MS, or something similar. I am perfectly happy to have people disarm themselves for you, as long as doing so would not impact their ability to "defend themselves normally throughout" that the spell makes specific exemption for. - Tarkisflux Talk 00:19, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
Actually, that target line change does stupid things, and I feel bad for suggesting it. So maybe just a general exemption for people giving you things that they are defending themselves or attacking others with, as sort of suggested by the spell already anyway. And I think [Language Dependent] more appropriate than not on a level 1 spell. A higher level version without that exemption or descriptor and only an S component seems a reasonable extension. - Tarkisflux Talk 00:43, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
I don't think that the spell was meant to suggest that people can't give away their weapons to you. However, I would say that this is a reasonable limitation, and will introduce it. I'll also add Language-Dependent to it - 'directive' implies speaking. - MisterSinister (talk) 20:59, 5 November 2012 (UTC)
