Unarmored Duskblade

All the other Duskblades you trained along were not as nimble as you, relying solely on their strength to fight, and their armor to protect themselves. You know that the armor that your comrades use will only slow you down.

Class: Duskblade

Level: 1,4,9

Replaces: Armored Mage (Light, Medium, Heavy Shield), Armor proficiency (Medium, Heavy, Shields)

Benefit: The Duskblade gains some of the abilities shared by Barbarians, Monks, and Rogues, shown below.

Evasion (Ex): A Duskblade can avoid even magical and unusual attacks with great agility. If he makes a successful Reflex saving throw against an attack that normally deals half damage on a successful save (such as a red dragon’s fiery breath or a fireball), he instead takes no damage. Evasion can be used only if a Duskblade is wearing light armor or no armor. A helpless Duskblade (such as one who is unconscious or paralyzed) does not gain the benefit of evasion. This replaces Armored Mage (Light).

Uncanny Dodge: Starting at 4th level, a Duskblade can react to danger before her senses would normally allow her to do so. She retains her Dexterity bonus to AC (if any) even if she is caught flat-footed or struck by an invisible attacker. However, she still loses her Dexterity bonus to AC if immobilized. If a Duskblade already has uncanny dodge from a different class (a Duskblade with at least two levels of barbarian, for example), she automatically gains improved uncanny dodge instead. This replaces Armored Mage (Medium).

Improved Evasion: At 9th level, a Duskblade’s evasion ability improves. He still takes no damage on a successful Reflex saving throw against attacks such as a dragon’s breath weapon or a fireball, but henceforth he takes only half damage on a failed save. A helpless Duskblade (such as one who is unconscious or paralyzed) does not gain the benefit of improved evasion. This replaces Armored Mage (Heavy Shield).
