Welcome Aboard!

Hello Luigifan, and welcome aboard. Just wanted to let you know that we're doing a lot more with semantic mediawiki (and associated data) than wikia is, so we prefer to avoid user categories like the one you made for your work. We try to keep them for broad types (spells, feats, tracks, etc.) rather than slightly more specific things like your Slavic Spells category. So I'd like to remove your user category from your pages, and see if there's another way to keep your slavic spells grouped nicely that would fit your needs. What was your goal for the category?

I'll take care of the backend stuff for the user category, so nothing to worry about there. - Tarkisflux Talk 20:33, 14 October 2012 (UTC)

The goal for the "Slavic Spells" is basically that they're based upon Slavic mythology, especially the Slavic gods. The antagonists of my campaign are basically Slavic pagans trying to restore their pantheon's glory by destroying its opponents (namely the Abrahamic religions), and the Slavic Spells are their trump card - spells that only they can use. (The Slavic gods themselves aren't evil - it's just that this particular sect of their followers is very, very pissed off about the injustices their people have suffered over the years. In fact, they're angry enough to commit genocide.) --Luigifan18 (talk) 20:38, 14 October 2012 (UTC)
Just so you know, the user category is unnecessary because we keep track of "a user made these articles" another way. See the source code for my user page to see how you can do it for yourself. Surgo (talk) 21:10, 14 October 2012 (UTC)
Yup, we can do some stuff with SMW so that you can search by author, and have automatically generated lists that show all the articles you've written. There's also navboxes if you wanted links to your work at the bottom of each of your pages. Lots of lovely options, but they make the user categories a bit redundant. If you could stop putting them on the bottom of articles, I'd appreciate it.
Thematic linkage for the Slavic spells isn't something that we can duplicate with other bits, so that's probably fine. It also sounds like an interesting campaign setting. Any chance of it getting added? - Tarkisflux Talk 23:01, 14 October 2012 (UTC)
I'd prefer to handle the navbox thing once I've transferred all of my projects. As for the campaign setting... I'll need to make sure I know what I'm doing before I try to design a campaign. --Luigifan18 (talk) 23:07, 14 October 2012 (UTC)
Wow man, you are a machine! ...I can certainly appreciate it, good sir! -- Eiji-kun (talk) 01:41, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
Heh, thanks. Anyways, all of my projects are up, so I'd like to know what you think of them. --Luigifan18 (talk) 01:44, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
It's probably a bad idea to add lines to SRD pages. I think we're trying to keep the SRD as just a reference document, here. --Foxwarrior (talk) 04:28, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
I made sure to precisely quote the PHB. --Luigifan18 (talk) 04:31, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
Oddly enough, I don't think the PHB, MM, or DMG are actually the Open Game content which we're allowed to copy. Things like Beholders aren't in the SRD, after all. --Foxwarrior (talk) 04:39, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
Here is the SRD, in case you're wondering. --Foxwarrior (talk) 04:42, 18 October 2012 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Oh, does it have that line in the PHB? I suspected that might have been. Yeah, there are some things that are in Core which are curiously not OGL. Beholders, sure, but also the name's on spells like Bigsby and sometimes entire class features (Illithid Slayer became the somewhat different Slayer). No harm no foul. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 04:43, 18 October 2012 (UTC)

By the way, I reverted your change to Arrow to the Knee because it made the feat 4 or more times more powerful, which was probably a bad idea. --Foxwarrior (talk) 02:06, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
I think I'm ready to try the navboxes now. But I looked at Surgo's page, and... well, it didn't really help. --Luigifan18 (talk) 02:16, 21 October 2012 (UTC)

Thanks

I saw you made grammar check on my articles, you have my thanks. --Leziad (talk) 03:24, 15 October 2012 (UTC)

Your work is much appreciated. --Franken Kesey (talk) 15:16, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
You are a beast when it comes to editing. I must bow deeply in respect. I do have one request with regard to editing. It would be nice if my articles were to remain gender neutral.
Your work looks all encompassing, the armies of slang and dialect surround you – but this does not stop the Advent of Proper English! With each swing of wit and slice of rhetoric you banish the dark forces and bring lucidity to this world. --Franken Kesey (talk) 00:15, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
...That sounds strangely poetic and hilarious. Thank you. --Luigifan18 (talk) 00:16, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
And now I too add my thanks. Not only for grammar checking my really long skills stuff, but for the SRD and other corrections you have done. Believe me when I say that it is very appreciated. - Tarkisflux Talk 05:05, 1 November 2012 (UTC)

Moved From other "Thanks Section" The grammar check is truly appreciated. --Leziad (talk) 05:49, 20 August 2013 (UTC)

Ditto bud, super appreciated.--Gr7mm Bobb (talk) 10:55, 25 December 2017 (MST)

Epic Spells

Please do not add the Spell category to them. The intent is to separate them from non-epic spells for navigation and list generation purposes by having them occupy different categories. Similarly, we have a separate Epic "X" categories for everything else and we want to keep them out of the "X" categories. - Tarkisflux Talk 15:31, 15 October 2012 (UTC)

References

I just noticed that you were doing references in standard wikipedia fashion. You're welcome to keep doing that if you like, but I wanted to point out that we did a cite template for homebrew that looks a bit more like published citations. It works by looking at the common book abbreviation and edition, so {{cite|SpC3}} would turn into a link to the spell compendium like thisSpC, for example. Just wanted to make sure you knew about it :-) - Tarkisflux Talk 19:21, 19 October 2012 (UTC)

Spell Request

What are your thoughts on crippling spells that disable opponents – for the more passive? Sadly, most players do not get to play with 9th level spells; which might preclude the uniqueness of your pantheon. The average player will be lucky to get as high as 9th level in a campaign; at this level even a wizard is stuck with 5th level spells. I would love to see more low level spells from you. Fait Accompli - all wish to be gods, someday, but it takes wisdom to find the small bites. --Franken Kesey (talk) 16:52, 21 October 2012 (UTC)

I have trouble with holding myself back in spell design, but I did deliberately design Light Steps to be usable by low-level characters. --Luigifan18 (talk) 16:54, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
Does this mean you will be bowing out of the Challenge! --Franken Kesey (talk) 17:12, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
So what sort of level do you play your campaigns at, Luigifan18? --Foxwarrior (talk) 17:19, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
I haven't played any in a while... ^_^; --Luigifan18 (talk) 17:39, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
What campaign level ranges have you played in ages past? Also, would you mind if I asked where you live?--Franken Kesey (talk) 20:49, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
Have you really seen the positively Greek or Norse level of mythic ridiculousness that level 10-14 characters get up to? --Foxwarrior (talk) 04:49, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
If I am not mistaken, and I sometimes am, Luigi, you are well beyond the super-powerful 10th-14th levels (noting that even the best wizards cannot deal your spells until 17th level!). Monsters with a CR above 25, are rarely used. Admittedly, some DMs will have The Enemy monster that is well above character level – which is ok (you do not want players to defeat the major evil accidently, or due to luck). I am simply disappointed that I will never have the opportunity to play with one of your works. --Franken Kesey (talk) 02:51, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
Actually, I just have trouble knowing when to stop when I make stuff, and as a result very little of it ends up being appropriate for lower-level characters. ^_^; --Luigifan18 (talk) 21:28, 11 November 2012 (UTC)

→Reverted indentation to one colon

To Franken Kessey - I just came up with a spell for the dream sage... from Mr. Welch's list of things he's no longer allowed to do in an RPG, of all sources...! --Luigifan18 (talk) 16:34, 18 November 2012 (UTC)

Navbox

Want a navigation box for your articles? I can even make them appear automagically (Using {{Navboxes}}) on all the articles you've already written. --Havvy (talk) 00:49, 25 October 2012 (UTC)

Sure! I was going to ask sooner or later anyways. --Luigifan18 (talk) 01:29, 25 October 2012 (UTC)

Talk: and User: Pages

I know you're just going around grammar fixing things, but it's generally considered taboo to edit the words of other users in talk and user pages. Some users might be ok with it, but you could also really offend someone. It would probably be better if you avoided grammar / spelling / similar edits to other users' in those namespaces without prior permission. - Tarkisflux Talk 03:39, 8 November 2012 (UTC)

|Re:Edit summaries are really important for people to get an idea of what changed in an edit for an article. Without them, you have to sift through an article's history, edit by edit, to get an idea of its history. With them, you just have to take a quick glance through the history to know how something evolved. So, you might want to include edit summaries for your edits. You can do that through the little text box below your edited article. Just a thought. --Luigifan18 (talk) 19:47, 15 October 2015 (UTC)

Reply: I'll keep that in mind. - Ethereal1111 Talk

I appreciate you going around doing grammar edits and whatnot, but this has been mentioned before. It is highly frowned upon to do edits to things on User pages. Just doing the link fixing is pushing things. Also adding words really is stepping over bounds. Please don't change things on other people's User pages anymore. They're not on the main wiki for a reason. --Undead_Knave (talk) 00:17, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

|Re: Self-rating[edit]

So, I'm a pretty active user on this wiki, and I keep a close eye on the recent changes. And I've seen you try to rate your own article, and get slapped down by one of the admins, twice three times now. So I figured I should give you a friendly heads-up before one of the senior users loses their patience.

Rating your own articles is not allowed here. It defeats the point of the rating system, which is to provide other users with feedback on their work — to point out what's good, what's bad, what's awesome, and what makes the game itself cry. I've been slapped with quite a few oppose ratings on articles that I'm rather proud of, simply because I have a penchant for rambling and can be slightly clueless about game balance. When I see oppose ratings, I try to address the concerns so that the article in question doesn't get forced into my sandbox — the shining example of this being my Viewtiful Warrior class, which I had to rework extensively to keep in the mainspace — and yet I consider it my magnum opus of sorts here.

Basically, don't try rating your own articles as a buffer against the dreaded "Community Oppose" status. It's not gonna fly. You're gonna write articles that you're especially proud of, and you're going to write articles that you're not so proud of. But author opinions shouldn't go in the official ratings boxes. If you feel the need to defend your article, do it in the main talk space of your article. --Luigifan18 (talk) 13:38, 31 October 2015 (UTC)

Reply: So sorry. Must have missed that. Will try to be better.- Ethereal1111 Talk

I have tried to take your advice and feel have learned a few things and am grateful for your help. However, being someone who is still learning, I feel that calling someone's actions juvenile who already admitted their ignorance isn't so cool. I have asked for help and find it funny that nobody has bothered except to criticize.

Number list starting ahead?

For ease of editing, I'm thinking of splitting my list of projects into multiple sections. But I don't want to have each list start at #1 - then it's hard to keep track of my projects. Is there any way to make a numbered list (each item is a line starting with "#") start at a number other than 1? Thanks in advance for letting me know. --Luigifan18 (talk) 21:27, 11 November 2012 (UTC)

Not really. Sorry :-/ - Tarkisflux Talk 22:03, 11 November 2012 (UTC)
Ugh. Well, in any case, do you know how I could fix up the sidebar on the Enhance seed page so that it actually shows up? (And if there's a way to make it wider, that'd be great.) --Luigifan18 (talk) 22:38, 11 November 2012 (UTC)
I think it's failing because you're passing too many characters to the template. Which I haven't seen before. I can get it to work by shortening it, and you'll need to either do that or do the sidebar table manually. You should be able to do that by going to the template page and copying the formatting out.
If you want it wider, you can use "Underbar" instead of "Sidebar" and it will be an inline section most of the width of the page. - Tarkisflux Talk 22:51, 11 November 2012 (UTC)

Rating Request

I would love to hear your impression of the Judge of Existence (3.5e Class), Dream Lord (3.5e Prestige Class) and Viveka Spectre (3.5e Prestige Class). All are in need of better write-ups, and could use detailed solutions and discourse. --Franken Kesey (talk) 00:13, 24 August 2013 (UTC)

I have commented and looked at many of your pages, helped in clarifying issues when possible. If you want me to continue to do so, I require detailed analyses of the above pages. This is a community, that relies on people aiding in each others' works. I would also advise you to give a detailed analysis and thanks to many of the other users who have helped so much with your own. --Franken Kesey (talk) 18:12, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
Thank you for your review, ratings, and edits of the Judge, Dream Lord, and many others. Now interested in your review and rating of the Intelligent Item (3.5e Class), Hothead (3.5e Feat), Sedah’s Counterspell of Superfluous Detail (3.5e Spell), Viveka Spectre (3.5e Prestige Class), and Kisalli (3.5e Race). Thank you.--Franken Kesey (talk) 16:13, 27 March 2016 (UTC)

New Quest Idea - Sapphire Showdown!

This quest is based on the Anarchic Initiate prestige class from Complete Psionic and the Sapphire Hierarch prestige class from Magic of Incarnum. The synopsis is roughly: "The Scofflaws have attacked the Temple of the Sapphire Eidolon, and are now attempting to destroy it! The Order of the Sapphire Eidolon is not amused. It's the ultimate showdown between law and chaos, and all hell is breaking loose!" The trouble is, that's all I've got at the moment. Anyone feel like lending me a hand in designing the scenario?

User Page

Do you want your user page reorganized, with your articles categorized by type?

No, I prefer them organized by order of creation. --Luigifan18 (talk) 20:19, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

Editing Permission

Hey, I've noticed that you've occasionally made some disallowed changes to homebrew articles, such as the recent spell you added to the Grim. I'd like to point out, in case you were unaware, that every homebrew article has in its author box an Editing line which tells you what sorts of changes are allowed by the author. In the future, please be mindful that you heed these restrictions. --DanielDraco (talk) 21:08, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

Since my grammar is one of my problems with my homebrew, and seeing you hunting down and slaying bad grammar.
Here is my permission to grammar attack my stuff (english ain't my starting language, it isn't even one of my bonus languages) Wildmage Talk 06:13, 20 August 2013 (UTC)

Oxford Comma

You are aware that the oxford comma (comma before “and”) is not required in American English?--Franken Kesey (talk) 21:20, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, the Oxford comma is firstly a question a clarity and secondly a question of style, but never a question of grammar. It can sometimes help, and sometimes hinder. Where it is not ambiguous (or even where it is, provided that the ambiguity is deliberate), its inclusion or exclusion is best left the way the author wrote. (Though, to give my two cents, I prefer to use it whenever possible, because it can sound weird when you don't.) --DanielDraco (talk) 21:56, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
...Oh, geez. This isn't the only place where I've gone Grammar Nazi on the commas... --Luigifan18 (talk) 22:27, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

Help Wanted

Do you know about the help wanted tag? Advise putting it on your 3-5 of your most troubling works (including sandboxes). This will direct others to them, and focus the energy. Works that have hit a point where you do not know what to do, or works that are almost complete. But do not over use the category. --Franken Kesey (talk) 16:00, 23 August 2013 (UTC)

You have too many in this category, we are working on setting a limit. But it is to bring up major issues, not to ask for help on how many skill points a creature should have in a particular skill. This is not a struck rule, but you are thanked for understanding that having one user filling up most of the category is counterintuitive. --Franken Kesey (talk) 20:44, 23 August 2013 (UTC)

Goodliness Is Next To Godliness

Do you not think that "goodly" should appear with a goodly frequency? Is it not good enough for you? --Foxwarrior (talk) 22:40, 9 September 2013 (UTC)

Spell

You may want to check this out Sedah’s counterspell of superfluous detail. --Franken Kesey (talk) 17:50, 14 September 2013 (UTC)

I already have. I found it quite amusing. --Luigifan18 (talk) 19:19, 14 September 2013 (UTC)

User:Ubergeek63/Cantrip_Master_(3.5e_Class)

I see you moved it... I have to assume there is a standard involved lol... did you look at it? --Ubergeek63 (talk) 9/30/15

I did, but the issue was that it lacked the (3.5e Class) tag. All homebrew projects need an identifier tag. --Luigifan18 (talk) 03:11, 1 October 2015 (UTC)

That much i figured lol... I am just always interested in opinions

So... Wind Weaver...

I think you should make it an alternate class feature.

Right now it's kind of cluttering things up. You expect Wind Mage class features to be, well, in the wind mage and wind mage related articles (the ACF), not PrCs. Plus, it's futureproofing to not need to mention every class interaction because there may be other "warlock" classes to come.

I can do the edits fine, but I rather have you rescue your work and stick it in an ACF before I do so. Plus, this is what ACFs are for anyway. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 04:09, 23 October 2015 (UTC)

I'll try. --Luigifan18 (talk) 15:59, 23 October 2015 (UTC)

Wiki Staff: Violation of ToU

Both the Mogeko and Mogeko Snatcher were found in violation with the Terms of Use (sexually explicit/obscene content). If you have more question about the decision or wish to contest it (please don't), ask me and/or other admins. If you wish to recreate the pages in such a way they are no longer in violation with our Terms of Use then an admin will be glad to provide you the original code.

Thank you for your cooperation .--Leziad (talk) 01:10, 29 October 2015 (UTC)

Could I please have the original code so I could try to rework the pages? I'm not entirely sure how to tone it down further, but I do want to try to salvage them. --Luigifan18 (talk) 01:54, 29 October 2015 (UTC)
Alright, I would prefer delivering it by email but I can dropbox it or something. --Leziad (talk) 01:55, 29 October 2015 (UTC)
Thanks. Where would I download it? --Luigifan18 (talk) 01:57, 29 October 2015 (UTC)
Can I get your email? Otherwise im gonna have to find a service to temporarily host it. --Leziad (talk) 02:06, 29 October 2015 (UTC)

Archetyper? Who's that? --Luigifan18 (talk) 14:00, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
Thirded. Seriously, even if you set out to do so respectfully and not for jokes or for tasteless shock value, there's really no way to do so. The judeo-christian depiction of god is completely antithetical to both the commonly used campaign settings and the core mechanics of D&D. So you either have to change the depiction of god to fit the D&D system, or change the D&D system to fit god, neither of which are particularly good ideas. There's a small but important distinction between creating a deity that's a pastiche of the Judeo-Christian god but calling it something else, and actually trying to make "the" God in D&D form. It's the same reason it would be gauche to create a D&D version of the prophet Mohammed. Spanambula (talk) 09:48, 22 February 2016 (UTC)

Fair Use & Images

Part of the policy on fair use strongly encourages uploading lower resolution images than the source image on purpose. As a note. Also, where are you getting these pokémon images because sources are not provided, and we need sources. Also, any wiki does not qualify as a wikipedia or wikimedia project. As a note, again. I suspect these should probably be listed under fair use instead with sources provided in the file summary. Always source images. --Ganteka Future (talk) 04:53, 16 December 2015 (UTC)

I'm getting the images from Bulbapedia. --Luigifan18 (talk) 04:57, 16 December 2015 (UTC)
Bulbapedia isn't a Wikipedia project and doesn't fall under that image licensing. Even if it did, you'd still need to source link. Looks like Bulbapedia uses a similar license for how we handle things (we use the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike License and they use Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike License from what I can tell). So, what does this mean? Everything you uploaded needs a source link in the description. You're going to have to probably use Fair Use and use lower-resolution images. Read our image policies because they're super fun and confuse everyone constantly. Last time we hardly enforced the policy and it got to a point where we had to dump every image off the site since it was easier than trying to find and source hundreds. --Ganteka Future (talk) 05:22, 16 December 2015 (UTC)
Well, with Bulbapedia now on the whitelist, I think I can do that. It's gonna take a while, though... -_-; --Luigifan18 (talk) 05:24, 16 December 2015 (UTC)
Sorry man, I just got back from not being around earlier. --Ganteka Future (talk) 05:29, 16 December 2015 (UTC)

Re: Heart of (X)

This is technically something I should have found and mentioned nearly four years ago, so you probably don't know what I'm talking about. The Heart of Void and its four classical element counterparts received a "grammar" edit from you that somehow removed all of my edits to the pages. These edits fell under two categories: clarity edits, and fixing copy-paste errors. Please be more careful with this kind of thing, even though I'm not even sure what method you used that would even cause this problem. 198.84.240.219 20:27, 28 August 2016 (UTC)

Mephiles the Dark

I've moved the page to Luigifan18/Mephiles the Dark since it was Community Opposed. I saw you put a lot of work into it, so I figured this would be better than just deleting the page. --Aarnott (talk) 11:10, 27 January 2017 (MST)

Similarly, I've moved Luigifan18/Somewhere Over The Rainbow and Luigifan18/Super Smash Assault. --Aarnott (talk) 11:12, 27 January 2017 (MST)

Responce to Rating Request

I really want to rate your material. You have some good ideas. What hinders this is the wall of text. I start off sold on your idea, but after 20 or 30 minutes of reading I, as the reader, am left confused on how to use the article.

The end user prefers something simple for conflict. Remember the military acronym KISS, Keep It Simple Stupid. Do you think Heros have time to consider tecnicalities during combat? Create a simple page and I will rate. You can link it more complicated pages and put conditions in the notes at the bottom. But 80% of an article is better simple. Recent Move

The-Marksman made an article you removed recently. He made it as a help article for those who want to display their ratings on their page, and asked in the Discord chat where to put it. I noticed you moved it back to his sandbox; Is there anywhere better than the Guide section that it could be placed? --Zhenra-Khal (talk) 18:51, 16 December 2017 (MST)

Sadly, not that I'm aware of. --Luigifan18 (talk) 20:45, 16 December 2017 (MST)

Dumb Story Time

Story time. So, there's been a couple announcement trailers in the last few weeks or so for Smash Bros. Ultimate showing off King K. Rool and Ridley and Simon and Richter Belmont. Well, for the Belmont one, Eiji got so hyped about it, he left a single short message in our Skype text chat after seeing it: "Luigi is dead". This is what I awoke to, with no preface or context, and since he works night shifts, we weren't able to ask all day. We speculated, wrongly obviously, that he was talking about you, as if he had been on the Discord chat and gotten some news. Things got cleared up later, there was relief and laughs and watching the videos (spoiler: Luigi meets Death, but gets better). Just thought I'd pass that dumb story along. Welcome back, I guess. --Ganteka Future (talk) 10:39, 6 September 2018 (MDT)

I saw that trailer... good times. I'm actually spending a lot of time on Smashboards lately. (On a sadder note, I got banned from Know Your Meme this July... long story.) --Luigifan18 (talk) 13:30, 6 September 2018 (MDT)
