Uuuuuuuulaaaaaa!!!!!

A bot that was discovered, rather than created, by the Scientia group in the rubble of an ancient technological ruin on another planet. It was repaired, analyzed, and mass produced as its own functional autonomous war mech. The original indicated it may have once been a vehicle for a creature, but these parts have been filled in with current computer technology.

The Uulaa has a very unique and strange appearance, being a very tall tripod with a bulbous head, and a beard of lashing tentacles for melee and interaction with the surface, and a heat ray capable of melting or disintegrating targets. Its name comes from the sound it produces while charging its heat ray and other components, causing these machines to be loud. While most of their components were replaced, they continue to display unusually organic and instinctual behaviors of their original design. Tripods stand at 30 ft tall.

Combat

Uulaas walk forward shooting at long range targets, and lashing and grappling nearby targets if they are sufficiently small and weak enough to do so without disrupting its behavior. It rarely uses its leg stab.

Fluid Drain (Ex): The uulaa's alien technology seems to have been designed to absorb liquids for processing and repair, including things "liquified" by its beam. Every round against a grappled fluid-bearing creature (once per round per creature), or as a tentacle attack on a liquified creature (see Heat Ray) recovers the uulaa its HD in hp by attacking with a tentacle. The corpses are desiccated, with key components stolen. It is believed the original machines may have "eaten" other fluids through these tubes.

Force Shield (Su): The uulaa has a regenerating force shield which makes it immune to critical hits and sneak attacks while it is up. It grants 30 temp hp, and regenerates 3 hp a round. It counts as force for the purpose of interacting with spells and effects. If brought to 0 hp it remains down for 3 rounds before returning at full strength at the end of the third round.

Heat Ray (Su): As a standard action the uulaa can make a ranged touch attack out to 60 ft, dealing 1d6 fire damage per HD. Alternatively it can fire as a full round action, firing out to 480 ft and its damage not being reduced before hardness. Either use requires a 1d4 round cooldown before it can fire again. If a creature or object is reduced to 0 hp the tripod can choose to melt the object into a unnatural hot slurry, effectively destroying the body. The slurry still counts as fluids for the purpose of fluid drain, restoring the tripod's HD in hp.

Improved Grab (Ex): To use this ability, a tripod must hit with a claw attack. It can then attempt to start a grapple as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity. It can choose to take a -20 penalty on its grapple check and not be considered grappled itself (and grappling up to three creatures, up to the number it tentacles it possesses). It only does this on creatures it thinks are weak enough to fail.

Improved Programming: The tripod possesses the following programs, and has an additional 3 bonus programs: Attack x2, Calculate, Identify Creature, Identify Object, Protect, Reposition, Search, Self-Preservation, Sort.

Powerful Build (Ex): The physical stature of tripods lets them function in many ways as if they were one size category larger. Whenever a tripod is subject to a size modifier or special size modifier for an opposed check (such as during grapple checks, bull rush attempts, and trip attempts), the tripod is treated as one size larger if doing so is advantageous to him. A tripod is also considered to be one size larger when determining whether a creature’s special attacks based on size (such as improved grab or swallow whole) can affect him. However, his space and reach remain those of a creature of his actual size. The benefits of this racial trait stack with the effects of powers, abilities, and spells that change the subject’s size category.

Very Tall: The tripod is unusually shaped. It takes up as Large square, but is as tall as a Huge creature. Creatures who cannot strike at least 15 ft high off the ground can only attack its armored legs, which possess damage reduction 8/adamantine. Attacks that can reach at least 15 ft tall are not subject to this.

Construction

Uulaa-1938 Tripods are build out of a composite of many different metals, plastics, and alloys which must be processed in a factory. In addition its computer core requires special components and programming. The cost of the base material components are worth 3400 gp.

Assembling the body requires a DC 24 Craft (technology) check, a DC 24 Knowledge Engineering, or a DC 24 Knowledge Xeno check.

CL 11th; Craft Construct, scorching ray, vampiric touch; Price 34,000 gp; Cost 15,300 gp + 1224 XP.
