Vril Barbarian Substitution Levels

Race: Vril

Deep in the Underdark, drows breed specialized vril barbarians that are adapted to their cave habitat and make better use of their natural abilities.

A vril barbarian has the Knowledge (dungeoneering) skill, as class skill, instead of Knowledge (nature), and gains the Hide and Move Silently skills. This is valid for all its barbarian levels.

Climb and Hang (Ex): At 2nd level, instead of Fast Movement, a vril barbarian gains a climb speed equal to its land speed. It may stop itself while climbing to hang by its strong legs and manipulate objects or wield weapons and attack while in this position. In any case it may not do the same while moving, unless the object it wields needs just one hand to be manipulated.

Shrieking Rage (Ex): At level 4th it gains the capacity to release its Shriek racial ability at the same time as it falls in Rage, benefitting from its improved Constitution for the save DC. It may do this even when it has used its daily use of Shriek, effectively giving it multiple uses per day, as much as it can rage. This feature substitutes the extra rage use gained at 4th level, meaning that a vril barbarian will have one less use than a normal barbarian.

Shifting Reduction (Ex): By level 7th, when using its racial ability Skinshift, a vril barbarian adds the damage reduction it would gain from the ability to the damage reduction it gains thanks to that class feature. This DR is untyped as that of a barbarian. For example, at this level, it would gain DR 6/-. This effect lasts as normal or as long as Rage does, if longer. This feature enhaces the Damage Reduction feature of a barbarian but does not substitutes it.
