Wall of Thunderbolts

Range: Medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./level)
Effect: Barrier of electric bolts, 20 ft. long/level and 20 feet high or a field of two 5-foot squares per level
Duration: Concentration + 1 round/level
Saving Throw: Fortitude partial

Just what this army needs, a shot in the arm for us and a shock to the brain for the other guys.

This spell creates a transparent, passable barrier of electrified air and/or terrain that affects creatures differently depending on their affiliation with the casters. This spell can take one of two possible forms:

  • A linear barrier with a length of 20 feet per level and a height of 20 feet.
  • A field of electrified ground spanning two a maximum of 5-foot squares per level, all of which must be contiguous.

Regardless of which shape is chosen, the effects granted are the same. A section of the wall that is passed through loses power until the beginning of the next combat round, at which point it recharges.

Allies that pass through become hasted and gain a damage bonus on all attacks equal to 1d6 points of electricity damage per three caster levels. Both of these effects last until the end of the ally’s next turn. This damage bonus is the same regardless of how many squares the friendly creature passes though.

Enemies instead take 1d6 points of electricity damage per three caster levels upon passage and must make a Fortitude save or be blinded for 1 round. An enemy can only take this damage—and must only save against being blinded—once per round. For each additional square the opponent passes through, they take additional electricity damage equal to one third your caster level.
