The men of iron marched tirelessly onward, wiping out the enemy army with mechanical precision.

Specialized warforged created for the war effort, the warforged spotter differs from the standard warforged. They are small and built more like chimpanzee, with hand-like feet and a tail for balancing. Their limbs can be used interchangeably as arms or legs, and their face is built into a skull-like helmet with a large zoom telescoping lens over one eye. As all warforged they are made of wood, stone, and iron plates. They are used as scouts and spotters for other warforged troops, guiding their attack efforts and assassinating from the shadows with their crossbows. Compared to their larger kin they seem thin and wiry, and move in a chaotic acrobatic fashion using all available limbs.

Warforged spotters are about 3 ft tall and about 100 lbs. They speak Common and the base language of the nation they were created in.

Combat[edit]

Warforged spotters are not direct fighters, and are usually aiding and augmenting other troops in their efforts using stealth and superior mobility. When confronted in a real fight, if they don't simply run, they try to gain the flank advantage and use sneak attacks combined with full attacks, or snipe from the shadows, hide, and repeat. All of their limbs are hands, but they need at least one on the ground for stability limiting them to three claws. They use smokesticks both for escape and for marking areas for their allies, different colored smoke flares indicating different targets or objective for aerial units to bombard.

Evasion (Ex): The warforged spotter has evasion as a rogue.

Lunge (Ex): The warforged spotter is unusually good at jumping. It is always considered to have a running start and can make high jumps with the same DCs they can make long jumps with. They also reduce any falling damage by 1/2. It's real power is that as a full round action they can make a jump and benefit from Spring Attack, able to make a single attack during the movement.

Mark Target (Sp): This unique ability has two forms, the first marks up to 4 allies within 30 ft of it as receivers. This is a swift action, and lasts until they assign new receivers. The other form is a standard action, and it fires an invisible ray from its telescoping eye at a target within 60 ft. If you succeed on a ranged touch attack the target is marked for line of sight is lost for more than 1 minute or until you mark a second target. Marked targets are illuminated as an outline to the warforged spotter and any receivers they have linked with them, allowing their position to be known even through walls. While marked, targets radiate an aura of faint divination. This is considered a 2nd level spell and may be used at will.

Spotter Traits: Due to their special training they effectively are trained in a class of their own. They have moderate BAB, good Reflex and Will saves, 8+Int per level for skills, and are proficient in all simple weapons, and the hand crossbow, rapier, sap, shortbow, and short sword. They are proficient in light armor and no shields. They are constantly under the effects of magic vestment and greater magic weapon for all armor, shields, and weapons they wield or use.

Warforged Traits: Warforged troopers are still warforged, and possess all their normal immunities and traits such as: Immunity to poison, sleep effects, paralysis, disease, nausea, fatigue, exhaustion, effects that cause the sickened condition, and energy drain. An inability to heal damage naturally. Vulnerability to spells that manipulate wood and stone. Going inert instead of dying. And no need to eat, sleep, or breathe, but he can still benefit from the effects of consumable spells and magic items such as hero's feast or potions.

Skills: Warforged spotters have a +4 racial bonus on Balance, Jump, and Spot checks, and a +8 bonus on Climb checks. They can always choose to take 10 on Climb checks, even if rushed or threatened. They use their Dexterity modifier instead of their Strength modifier for Climb and Jump checks.
