Weapon ArtsEdit

Weapon Arts are combat options that are specific to a weapon. They can only be used while the weapon is wielded, and as long as the wielder of the weapon meets all the prerequisites for wielding the weapon.

In most cases, the weapons that possess weapon arts require specific training to wield. Even if the weapon in question is simple or martial, you must still possess the appropriate Exotic Weapon Proficiency feat in order to use any of the weapon's weapon arts. For example, the zweihänder may be used as a martial weapon if the fighter in question has at least 19 Strength, but he may only use its specific weapon arts if he also has Exotic Weapon Proficiency in the zweihänder.

All weapon arts are considered maneuver-like abilities that are usable as per the limitations stipulated by the weapon's description. Like maneuvers, they check against martial defense and count as maneuvers for the purpose of usage per turn or round.

Weapon arts are inherent to a specific weapon and generally cannot be exchanged, though some may be learned that apply to a range of similar weapon. Certain magic items such as weapon crystals may also confer special weapon arts to the weapon it is slotted in.

See this page for a list of weapons with available weapon arts.
