Wyrmtongues, we have a blasphemer in our midst! Show them what we do to blasphemers...

The Cult of the Wyrmtongue is a dangerous organization of dragon worshipers composed of dragonblooded and dragon related beings across the world. They unite in their belief of the supremacy of dragonkind and the dragonblooded, and use strange and occult techniques to try and become dragons themselves. Leaders of small organized task groups dedicated to influencing the world, wyrmtongue heralds prop themselves up as prophets of the religion that is dragon worship. They are formed from the ranks of the highly draconic, such as dragonborn, half-dragons, and rarely even lizardfolk who have draconic blood in them. They often come in tow with kobold followers who wait on their every beck and call. Though it can cover multiple races, the wyrmtongue herald entry is suitable for any draconic themed species. All of them are blessed with a set of dragon wings.

Combat[edit]

While a wyrmtongue herald prefers to beguile opponents into submission through words, it is a capable fighter. Typically the wyrmtongue herald is pre-buffed with mage armor whenever they feel they may encounter danger, and begins summoning as many allies and minions as possible. They also have a fiendish-esque calling ability to conjure an actual dragon, but are loathe to do so as they often owe said dragon a great deal of wealth for its service. With its ranseur it can disarm would-be dragon slayers at range, and then have their allies tear them apart trying to recover the weapon.

Blessings of the Wyrmtongue (Su): The blessings of draconic forces empower a normal dragonblooded creature into one of their followers. As a follower of the wyrmtongue, they gain unique BAB, saving throws, skills per level, and class skills for what are effectively racial hit dice. In addition to the unique abilities of the wyrmtongue herald, they gain a +2 enhancement bonus to any armor, shields, or weapons they use and a +3 resistance bonus to all saves. The blessings of the wyrmtongue also protect their soul after death, traveling to a unknown but specific plane in the afterlife and immune to being affected by abilities which trap or imprison the soul.

Breath Weapon (Su): Wyrmtongue heralds have a breath weapon which deals 1d6 points of energy damage per HD (8d6) with a Reflex save for half. The energy type (acid, cold, electricity, or fire) is the same as their energy immunity, and is unique to each wyrmtongue herald. After using the breath weapon, the wyrmtongue herald cannot use the breath weapon for 1d4 rounds. The saving throw is Constitution based.

Extraordinary Health (Ex): The wyrmtongue herald always receives maximum hit points per HD.

Fascinate (Ex): The wyrmtongue herald has the fascinate ability of a bard, but uses their Bluff score in place of Perform.

Frightful Presence (Ex): The wyrmtongue herald has a frightful presence like a dragon. The ability takes effect automatically whenever the wyrmtongue herald attacks, charges, or flies overhead. All creatures in a 10 ft radius with fewer HD than the wyrmtongue herald must make a Will save or be shaken for 1 round/level, and creatures with half the wyrmtongue herald's HD or less are instead fightened for 1 round/level, then shaken for 1 round/level. On a successful save, the creature is immune to that wyrmtongue herald’s frightful presence for 24 hours. Creatures of the dragon type ignore the frightful presence of wyrmtongue heralds. The save DC is Charisma based.

Immunities (Ex): Wyrmtongue heralds are immune to paralysis and sleep. They also are immune to one energy type (the same energy as their breath weapon), unique to each wyrmtongue herald.

Spells: Wyrmtongue heralds can cast arcane spells as 8th-level sorcerers. The save DCs are Charisma-based.

Typical Sorcerer Spells Known (6/8/8/6/4; save DC 16 + spell level): 0—arcane mark, dancing lights, detect magic, ghost sound, mage hand, prestidigitation, open/close, touch of fatigue; 1st—devilish spew, mage armor, obscuring mist, power word painRotD, ray of enfeeblement; 2nd—invisibility, rebukeSpC, shadow spraySpC; 3rd—mass snake's swiftnessSpC, persistent summon monster; 4th—summon monster IV.

Summon (Sp): Once per day a wyrmtongue herald can attempt to summon any creature of the dragon type with a CR equal to their CR-1 or less with a 50% chance of success. They do not use this easily, as the dragon will demand a stiff payment in return for its services. If the deal is not met, the dragon may return to where it came as a free action, otherwise it is bound to complete what service is asked of it. This ability is the equivalent of a 5th-level spell.
