YuriovanEdit

Isolated from most, the Yuriovans live in the mountainous region of Yuriova. Because of the harsh environment, these tribal half elves have acquired various survival and ice abilities.

PersonalityEdit

Yuriovans tend to be quite simple, reflective of their tribal lifestyle. In addition, they live minimalist lives, never too lavish or grand. Each tribal member shares what possessions they have with everyone else. A Yuriovan will always go out of their way to ensure the good of the tribe, even when it encumbers themselves. Though everyone is equal, the tribal chieftain is respected greatly, much like a father would be.

They are mostly hunters, feasting on wild game such as rabbits and elk. Though some hunters prefer their bow to shoot down their prey, Yuriovans often use their ice powers bestowed upon them by their Mark of Cold to gain the upper hand during the hunt. Due to the nature of their environment, the Yuriovans have learned to survive in harsh, cold places, often being able to go without food or water for an extended period.

Physical DescriptionEdit

Though they are a variant of half elf, Yuriovans look alot more human than elf. Their skin is often pale with soft freckles. They stand with broader shoulders and a bulkier build than other half elves. Their hair color is usually a dark brown, though it can be blonde or even white. They have eyes of various shades of blue. Average height for Yuriovans is usually around 6 feet tall, and their weight can vary from 130 to 160 pounds. Their ears come to a more rounded point, much like a pointed arch on a gothic cathedral.

The most distinct thing about a Yuriovan however is their Mark of Cold, an azure marking that is present from birth. It can be present on any part of their bodies and can take many shapes: a blotch, a stripe, and so on. This mark is believed to be the source of their ice abilities. Some tribes believe that a darker mark means stronger powers. Usually the same sort of mark is passed down bloodlines.

RelationsEdit

Though many have never heard of the Yuriovan tribes, the few documented encounters with them cite that they were rather kind and accepting towards travellers of most races. Those associated with fire were initially met with suspicion, but generally Yuriovans are trusting in others, and therefore have good relations with all who have come into contact with them. Some may find their kindness a bit off-putting, and isolation has left the Yuriovans without a clear grasp of some common social practices.

AlignmentEdit

Because of their kind nature, Yuriovans are almost always some variation of good. They cannot be evil, and are very rarely chaotic.

LandsEdit

Yuriovans hail from the Yuriovan mountains, a place where snow coats the land. Many plants and animals have unexpectedly adapted to what would otherwise be a frozen wasteland. Forests and frozen lakes are littered about, and blizzards are frequent. Those untrained to survive would likely die in these chilling conditions, which may be why the Yuriovans have hardly been known of.

ReligionEdit

Yuriovans don't have a main religion that they practice, although it is common for them to practice none. It is said however that it is an act of a god that gave their tribes the Mark of Cold, for reasons unknown.

LanguageEdit

Elvish is spoken by them, however in a Yuriovan dialect. In addition, they also can speak common. The Yuriovan dialect sounds like pure Elvish to all but Elves, who recognize the more esoteric nature of it.

NamesEdit

Yuriovan names tend to be composed of alot of vowels, with names such as Nikolay or Arianni. The names are usually corruptions of names originating in common.

Racial TraitsEdit

  • +2 Wisdom, +2 Dexterity, +2 Strength or +2 Constitution, -2 Charisma: Being half elves, Yuriovans inherit the Elve's wisdom and dexterity, while also gaining the Human's strength. Socially however, the Yuriovan people are a bit lacking despite their generosity and kindness.
  • Humanoid (Human, Cold)
  • Medium: As a Medium creature, a yuriovan has no special bonuses or penalties due to its size.
  • Yuriovan base land speed is 40 feet.
  • Low-Light Vision: A yuriovan can see twice as far as a human in starlight, moonlight, torchlight, and similar conditions of poor illumination. She retains the ability to distinguish color and detail under these conditions.
  • Cold Resistance 10 (Ex): Yuriovans possess an extraordinary resistance to cold damage.
  • Survival (Ex): Yuriovans have adapted their bodies to go longer without food or water compared to other races. Yuriovans can survive two days longer than normal humans in cases of starving.
  • Wild Adaptation (Ex): Yuriovans have adapted to living in a wild environment, getting a +4 racial bonus to Survival checks. Knowledge Nature and Knowledge Geography are always class skills for Yuriovans.
  • Mark of Cold (Ex): Yuriovans have a special mark that grants them their ice powers, which grow stronger as the Yuriovan levels up. Choose two of the following traits at character creation:

Alertness: The Yuriovan gets a +1 bonus on Spot, Search, and Listen checks. This bonus increases by +1 every 4 character levels (4, 8, 12...).

Strengthened Saves: The Yuriovan gets a +1 to all Saving Throws. This bonus increases by +1 every 5 character levels (5, 10, 15...).

Cold Immunity: The Yuriovan's Cold Resistance has improved to make them completely immune to cold effects or attacks. However, this causes the Yuriovan to gain a weakness to fire, taking 50% more damage from fire based attacks and effects.

Deep Diver: The Yuriovan can survive underwater twice as long as normal. This becomes triple as long at character level 7, and quadruple at character level 14.

Icewalking: The Yuriovan gains the benefits of the Icewalker feat.

Ice Breath: The Yuriovan gains an Ice Breath Attack. 1d6 cold damage, Reflex save for half damage (DC 10 + 1/2 breathing creature’s HD + breathing creature’s Con modifier). Cooldown period of 1d4 rounds. Damage increases by one damage dice every 2 character levels (3, 5, 7...)

Frost Coat: The Yuriovan gains a layer of frost on his body, giving them a +1 to AC and an extra point of cold resistance. This bonus increases by +1 every 5 character levels (5, 10, 15...).

Frost Touch: The Yuriovan's weapons are covered in a layer of frost, gaining a +1 frost enhancement bonus to them so long as the weapons are in the Yuriovan's hands. This bonus increases by +1 every 5 character levels (5, 10, 15...).

Slippery Step: The Yuriovan's base land speed increases by 5 feet. This bonus increases by 5 feet every 4 character levels (4, 8, 12...).
