Century Child[edit]

A special kind of humans who are born at the start of a century, century children are in fact the product of a mysterious outside intervention. Blessed with extraordinary foresight, mental capacities and immortality, their true purpose is in fact to guide humanity to some grand future. The mysterious force at work however limited the lifespan of such individual to only a single century, making it impossible for them to grip to power or form dynasties. Every generation of century children (less than a dozen per century) is on it own, as they are born the moment the older generation die.

Century children possess natural mental discipline allowing them to brush away fear and despair, they seem always aware of their purpose and nature despite never being informed of such. Many century children embrace their long ever-youthful life (for a human) but some seek ways of becoming immortal in an attempt to escape their fate. It is rumored that century children are in fact reborn each cycle instead of dying, keeping their personality and some inherent skills and appearance but losing all memories. However nothing can truly prove or disprove this rumor.

Creating a Century Child[edit]

Century child is an inherited template that can only be added to a creature with the humanoid type and human subtype. The creature is always born at the beginning of a century, almost always exactly as it begin.

Ability Scores: A century child gain a +4 bonus on intelligence, wisdom and charisma. Her long life and supernatural insight grant her extremely solid mental capabilities.

Size and Type: A century child size and type do not change.

Feat: A century child gain a single bonus feat she meet the prerequisite for.

Skills: A century child receives 8 extra skill points at 1st level and 2 extra skill points at each additional level. Century children treat all skills as class skills.

Special Abilities: A century child receive the following special abilities.

Ageless: Century Children do not accrue penalties from aging and always look young and healthy. They appear to age up to their early 30's or mid 20's before stopping aging altogether. Thy do however die when their time come (see below).

Century-bound: A century child is immortal (see below) however her life-forces are bound to the century itself. As soon as the century she was born in end, the century child immediately disintegrate into light, killing her irrevocably. This effect even bypass other form of immortality such as one granted by a spell, class feature or undeath. Century children slain that way cannot be returned from the dead with one exception; once per year she can be resurrected by a resurrection spell but she only remain alive for 1 minute per caster level before disintegrating into light again. A true resurrection spell bring her back for 1 day per caster level.

Century Insight: A child of the century has innate knowledge of the past and future. She gain an ability like bardic knowledge except she use her character level instead of bard level and use her highest mental ability score to determine the bonus to that check. She may only use this ability to divine knowledge that happened this century, so very ancient history is out. Uniquely she is able to have very vague hint of events to come, allowing her to roll her century insight about events to come (as long as they would happen this century). Her knowledge of the future also make her under a constant foresight effect.

Determined Purpose: Century Children exist to aid and guide humanity, they gain the destiny ability as a wandering hero of their character level. However they may only use their destiny ability on a cause or event that will directly benefit humanity. Additionally century children are always aware of what they are and what their purpose is, although many do not accept it. This has the side effect of making them immune to memory and personality-altering effects.

Immortality: A century child is immortal, she can survive indefinitely under 0 hit points (but it may take them a while to regenerate). Any effect that would leave them polymorphed or petrified is reverted after one day/caster level leaving them at -10 hit points. If a century child fail it save against a death-effect instead of slaying him outright it immediately drop him at -10 hit point. They do not die from having 0 constitution or having as many or more negative level than their current hit dice, however both situation leave them helpless until they can properly regenerate. This immortality does not bypass any specific way of getting killed granted by other templates (such as beheading a highlander).

Fearless and Remorseless: Century children are immune to fear effects and moral penalties (but not moral bonuses).
