You put some smite in your smite so you could smite harder.
When you hit with a smite attack, you may cast this spell to enhance its power. Your effective level for your smiting class increases by +4 for this one attack for the purpose of calculating damage.
If your class has your smite ability persist for longer than a single attack (such as the Pathfinder Paladin), this enhanced damage only applies to a single attack.
