Interwoven Spell [Metamagic] The wizard's fireball exploded outward, leaving a large area covered in... Glitter? What kind of witchcraft is this?Prerequisites: Any two metamagic feats, ability to cast 2nd-level spells, Spellcraft 8 ranks.Benefit: This metamagic feat allows you to weave a spell you know into another spell you know. The combined spell takes up a slot of a level equal to the combined spell level (Thus a 2nd-level spell woven into a 3rd-level spell would occupy a 5th-level slot); However, you can also place that single spell in two slots, as if it were two separate spells (Thus the aforementioned example would occupy a 3rd-level slot and a 2nd-level slot, and expend both slots when cast). However, you cannot combine two spells whose combined spell level is higher than the maximum spell level you can cast (Even if you cast them from the lower-level slots instead of the high-level one).

An interwoven spell uses the area of the primary spell, simply adding the effect of the secondary spell. The primary spell is by default the spell of the higher level (Though you may choose which is the primary spell). If the effect affects an area but doesn't allow a saving throw (Such as the Glitterdust spell), it effects the entire area. If the secondary spell's effect allows a saving throw or requires an attack roll, subjects within the original spell's area are only subject to the secondary spell's effect if they fail their save against the primary spell (Though if the first spell doesn't allow a save, the second spell still allows a save). Generally this is used to apply a touch spell to an area-of-effect spell, but it can turn a cone into a ray, a touch attack into a ray, and so forth, including summoning and buffing a creature with the same spell. The limitation is that a spell with a range of 0/target of You/Self can only be combined with another self-targeting spell.

In the case of primary spells that can hit a target more than once (Such as Magic Missile or Scorching Ray), these spells can effect a single target multiple times, but the effect of the secondary spell only affects that target once (So no applying a Shivering Touch to a Magic Missile in an attempt to deal 15d6 Dexterity damage to one target, sorry). Area effect spells like Fireball apply the secondary effect once, instantly, to all subjects within its range, and spells that persist for more than one round (Like Acid Arrow or Hold Person) only apply their effects once, not every round (Though secondary spells with a duration longer than 1 round last as long as they ordinarily would).

Metamagic effects other than this one apply to each spell separately. Empowering a Chill Touch attached to a Fireball would only Empower the Chill Touch, not the Fireball too.

An Interwoven Spell takes as long to cast as the spell within it that has the longest casting time, plus 1 round. Example: Say a 9th-level wanted to combine Fireball and Glitterdust. He'd have to either use a 5th-level slot, or a 2nd-level slot and a 3rd-level slot. The Fireball goes off as normal, but everyone within the 20ft radius of the Fireball suffers a -40 penalty on Hide checks for 1 round/level, and those who failed their Reflex saves against the Fireball must also make a Will save or be blinded for 1 round/level.

Another example would be using Summon Monster I (1st-level spell) and Invisibility (2nd-level spell) to summon an invisible Fiendish Dire Rat that would remain invisible until it attacked.Special: This metamagic feat cannot be affected by any metamagic reducers. Spontaneous casters don't suffer any additional increase in casting time by virtue of being spontaneous casters; But they must still suffer the casting time increase from this metamagic feat itself.
