Ironclad Shield[edit]

A very robust shield specially designed to be worn by pure defenders. It is not made for soldiers or warriors, but for guards and those who provide combat support.

There are 3 versions of the Ironclad Shield : light, standard, and heavy. These shield are thick and robust, they are carved and decorated with royal coats of arms. These masterworks shields grant a +2 on Diplomacy check.

Light Ironclad Shield : A shield that looks like an hexagonal piece of metal which is slightly curved. It is the lightest ironclad shield, it provide its wearer with no special cover but grant him a better dexterity than the two other versions of this shield. It is possible to excecute a Shield Bash with no penalty with it. The bottom of the shield is equiped by a sharped and curved blade that deal 1d8 slashing damage and with 19-20/x2 for critical. It is possible to use it with the Weapon Finesse feat.

Standard Ironclad Shield : This shield looks like his light version, but with two long pièce of metal attached to the main on. The whole form a beatiful V shaped shield, with a small curved piece of iron-glass at the top, and mecanism of blade at the bottom. As you can see, there are mecanism of three blade that are released out of the shield just before you use it to strike. Then, these blades are put back into place when you must have not to use it. These blade inflict 2d6 piercing and slashing damage with 19-20/x3 for critical. It is difficult to strike with this shield, and the wearer take a penalty of -2 to attack or to Shield Bash with this shield, except if he has a Strength score of 18 or more, or if the wearer has Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Ironclad Shield) feat. In addition, the shield provide a partial Cover, granting a cover bonus of +2 to AC (instead of +4 for standard cover), and +1 to reflex (instead of +2 for standard cover).

Heavy Ironclad Shield : The heavy version looks like a tower shield, but with an hexagonal form vertically stretched. The shield is thick, heavy, and bulky. It provide a cover (+4 AC, +2 reflex) to it wearer. Like a tower shield, this shield impose a penalty of -2 all attack make by the user, due to it weight. Normally, it is near impossible to attack with this shield. But a user with a Strength score of 22 or more, or with the Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Ironclad Shield) feat can use it to attack (with the usual penalty of -2). The bottom of the shield is equiped with a row of spikes that deals 2d8 percing and bludgeonning damage with a critical of x2. These spikes can be use to ensure the stability of the shield' user during a Bull Rush or a Trip attempt, and grant him a bonus of +4 against bull rush and trip attempt.
