This crossbow is made from a strange composite metal that is immune to heat and never gets uncomfortably hot. With a flick of a switch it can fire heat lasers from its business end.
The lasbow is said to have been a strange alien weapon which was crudely re-created by those who scavenged the original. It is a light crossbow +1 which is immune to fire damage and effects such as heat metal, never growing too warm. As a standard action it can fire a scorching ray as a caster level equal to your character level. It can shoot up to 9 rays a day, either 9 individual shots or up to 3 rays per shot (if you are level 11th or higher).The rays benefit from the weapon enhancements of the crossbow when applicable, so the default rays have +1 to attack and damage.
To recharge the lasbow, it must be immersed in fire or some other heat source, recovering 3 rays after 8 hours. Magical fires, or unusually hot fires such as within the middle of forges recover the same amount in only 4 hours.
Though the rays are fire damage, they are due to bright laser-like light. Creatures which take additional damage and penalties from light treat the ray attacks as if they were light damage. In addition, fire enchancements (such as Flaming or Flaming Burst) are half the usual cost to enchant with. If you are able to cast scorching ray on your own, you may cast it through the weapon to fire and benefit from the weapon effects without expending a ray from the lasbow.
