2. Weight figures are for Medium weapons. A Small weapon weighs half as much, and a Large weapon weighs twice as much.
3. When two types are given, the weapon is both types if the entry specifies "and", either type (player's choice at time of attack) if the entry specifies "or", or each end of the double weapon is a different type if the entry specifies "/".
4. The hp value given is for Medium armor, weapons, and shields. Divide by 2 for each size category of the item smaller than Medium, or multiply it by 2 for each size category larger than Medium.

A macestaff is essentially a mace head placed on a staff, granting extra reach and striking power. A macestaff is a reach weapon, you can strike opponents 10 feet away with it, but you can’t use it against an adjacent foe.

If the wielder possess the appropriate exotic weapon proficiency it gain access to the following Weapon Arts:

Fine Grip: You can use the macestaff as a one-handed weapon.

Short Haft: In this stance you can swing your macestaff around like if it was a quarterstaff. This form of attack is two-handed only and doesn't have reach, but it becomes a double weapon. The other end of the double weapon form of this weapon has the same enhancement as the mace head (where applicable), making it cheaper to enhance than a typical quarterstaff. It also counts as a quarterstaff for the purposes of feats and interactions in this state. This weapon can benefit from both metal and wood materials, with the short haft stance benefiting from the wooden materials.

Whirlwind Swirl: You gain the Whirlwind Attack feat while using this weapon. If you already have Whirlwind Attack, you may make a second attack at a -5 penalty when using it.

You can make trip attacks with the macestaff. If you are tripped during your own trip attempt, you can drop the macestaff to avoid being tripped.

Any feats and abilities which apply to heavy mace apply to the macestaff.
