Oh my god... it's full of pop tarts...

Streaking across the heavens at the speed of sound, nyancat is some manner of unholy union between housecat and frosted breakfast pastry. It's always on the run, flying through space and leaving rainbow shock trails of unreality in its wake as music emanates from the surroundings. Those who have seen it have found it mesmerizing. Though not evil, nyancat can be dangerous if it chooses to entertain its audience too long. It's said people have starved to death watching nyancat fly by for hours and hours on end.

And worse, there is apparently a place where they fly in swarms.

These extrasolar sirens can be heard even through the vacuum of space, their primal music pulling on the senses. Nyancats do not speak, but they understand common. They are most common in the U2-B system. Unlike most magical beasts, nyancats do not eat, sleep, or breathe. In fact, they do not stop either...

Combat[edit]

Nyancats rarely engage in purposeful combat, most "combat" being nyancat locking down its victims for an eternity by flying loops around them. If seriously threatened, it flies through the enemy, trampling them and exposing them to the deadly prismatic trail which follows it. It is also wise enough to move strategically to block off creatures with the trail which naturally follows it, taking full advantage of the fact that it can never be stopped.

Delicious (Ex): Nyancats are half poptart, and thus delicious. Animals and similar creatures with an Int of 2 or less that have a bite attack are compelled to use said bite attack against the nyancat. A DC 22 Will save negates the compulsion for 24 hours. Animal handlers may use a Handle Animal check in place of the animal's will save as a full-round action. The saving throw is Charisma based.

Fascinate (Su): A nyancat can fascinate as a bard of its level, except the fascination can last up to 1 hour/level, and creatures can make a save each hour to break free.

Improved Evasion (Ex): This ability works like evasion, except that while the nyancat still takes no damage on a successful Reflex saving throw against attacks, henceforth it takes only half damage on a failed save. A helpless nyancat does not gain the benefit of improved evasion.

Lucky (Ex): Nyancats seem to have all the luck. Nyancats receive their Charisma modifier as a luck bonus to AC and saves.

Music Loop (Su): Nyancats are surrounded by a 20 ft. radius emanation of constant and unusually catchy music which seems to be audible through the vacuum of space and even a silence spell. In fact, it's so potent, it drowns out all other sources of noise. No sonic effects can get through the sphere, Power Word spells fail to penetrate, and no conversation can be had within the field. Creatures attempting to cast or perform other actions need to succeed on a DC 30 Concentration check to cast successfully. Curiously, nyancat can still apparently make out conversation, even though all is drowned out by the ever present music.

Because of the music, nyancat always fails Move Silently checks. It's just not its style.

Prismatic Trail (Su): The nyancat is always followed by a rainbow trail which is similar to a prismatic wall effect, effectively filling a 5 foot cube in each of the spaces it was in the previous round. It lasts for 1 round, and can be 5 ft. up to as many feet as the nyancat moved. The prismatic trail blocks line of sight and line of effect, and creatures with 8 HD or less who see the wall are blinded automatically for 1d4 rounds. If one attempts to walk through the prismatic trail, they are subject to the effects of prismatic spray, DC 22, with the following table.

1d8 Color of Beam Effect
1 Red 20 points fire damage (Reflex half)
2 Orange 40 points acid damage (Reflex half)
3 Yellow 80 points electricity damage (Reflex half)
4 Green Disease (Transforms into a pop tart over 1d4 rounds, which is fatal; Will partial, take 1d6 points of Wisdom damage instead)
5 Blue Baleful polymorphed into a cat (Fortitude negates)
6 Indigo Insane, as insanity spell (Will negates)
7 Violet Sent to another plane (Will negates)
8 Struck by two rays; roll twice more, ignoring any “8” results.

The aura also surrounds nyancat itself. Those who strike nyancat in melee with non-reach weapons are subject to the prismatic spray effect, and slam attacks from nyancat also carry this effect. Of interesting note, those who are turned into cats and pop tarts instead turn into another instance of nyancat, which often flies away to join the others in the U2-B system.

Rush (Ex): After moving in a straight line for 1 minute, a nyancat can increase its speed ×100 fold. This ends once it stops moving in a straight line.

Trample (Ex): A nyancat can trample, dealing a whopping 2d3−2 damage, and the prismatic trail effect.

Unstoppable (Ex): A nyancat is in perpetual motion, and indeed must move at least 5 ft each round. All of its movement never provokes attacks of opportunity. It is also under a constant freedom of movement. This is fine, since its main attack is performed by moving.

If for any reason a nyancat is unable to move in a round (grappled, wall of force boxing it in, etc.), it will immediately shunt itself through whatever obstruction is in the way, dealing 1d6 points of damage to everything in its way for every 5 feet it travels, to the nearest valid empty space. More troubling is that this also applies to time as well as space. Nyancat is "immune" to time stop and similar effects, fully able to move on the virtual turns gained by the time bending spellcaster.
