You fish around in your bag and draw forth a small metal tuning fork, looking at it closely, the demon's form out of focus behind it as your allies distract it. Murmuring the droning chant of power, you strike the fork against a stone and hold it back between the demon and yourself. Across the room, the hellish creature your allies are holding at bay begins to shimmer, its form wavering as if being viewed through rising heat. Your chant wavers in pitch, trying to find the right frequency, until one note latches on, matching the sound of the vibrating fork perfectly, and the demon's wavering speeds up slightly before it vanishes into thin air. But the struggle isn't over yet; You closely watch the tuning fork's vibration, as it begins to slowly subside - Indicating that the creature isn't coming back. Exhausted, you flop backwards, your cheering allies rushing over to celebrate.

This spell is a minor version of the Dismissal and Banishment spells, working on a similar principle to the Plane Shift spell. When you cast the spell, you strike the appropriate tuning fork against a hard object, causing it to vibrate. Once cast, you must continue chanting and concentrating - A standard action each round. Each round, you and the target creature make opposed Will saving throws - You gain a bonus equal to your caster level, and the target gains a bonus equal to their Hit Dice.

The first time you are successful, that means you've matched the sound frequency of the fork and the chant to the creature's internal frequency. The second causes the creature to become partially incorporeal; Both attacks it makes and attacks made against it suffering a 50% chance to pass through it harmlessly, similarly to the Blink spell. If the creature wins the opposed save while partially incorporeal, it becomes corporeal again and you must force it into partial incorporeality again before you can continue.

If you win while the creature is partially incorporeal, it vanishes to the plane the tuning fork was attuned to, which is usually the creature's home plane. However, on the next round, it can attempt to force its way back, continuing the opposed Will saves. If you win that opposed save, the creature successfully banished and the spell ends. If the creature wins, it flickers back into existence on your plane, though only partially incorporeal, as above. The opposed Will checks continue either until you've successfully banished the creature or the spell runs out, whichever comes first.

Focus: A small, forked metal rod. The size and metal type must match the plane of existence or alternate dimension the spell sends the affected creature to. If you use the wrong size and type of fork, you suffer a -4 on the opposed Will saves and automatically send the creature to the wrong plane.
