Potions of Dangerous Longevity[edit]

These six potions are the experimental workings of a commissioned researcher who spent years trying to craft a formula to supernaturally extend a creature's life. The experimental set made its way to market, perhaps to be purchased by someone desiring to replicate and complete his research.

While none of the formulas listed here are to the completion standards of the researcher, they are still drinkable.

Gleaning information from the formulas is incredibly difficult, and replicating them would require rare, expensive ingredients.

Formula 1[edit]

Upon drinking this concoction, the imbiber doesn't age for a single day. Repeat consumption for that day causes no additional effects.

Formula 2[edit]

Upon drinking this concoction, the imbiber's physical age is reversed by one week, though this also causes the imbiber to fall into a sleep-like coma for 24 hours.

Formula 3[edit]

Upon drinking this concoction, the imbiber flies into a terrible rage-like berserk state for an hour. This is as a barbarian's rage except the creature gains no bonuses, mindlessly attacking the nearest creature or smashing some object smaller than itself if no creature is within reach, then moving on to spread more destruction. There is a 50% chance the imbiber's hair turns permanently white after consumption. The concoction reverses the imbiber's age by a single year.

The formula is known to cause "flashbacks". If six months pass without incident, the formula has cleared its potency down to a manageable level, unlikely to result in further incident. The likelihood of an incident is 1% + 1% per round spent under life-threatening duress. This percent resets after 1 minute spent resting or by spending a standard action to calm oneself. A trusted ally can attempt to calm the imbiber by making a DC 19 Charisma check as a standard action. Success restores the imbiber's state and sets the berserk chance to 0% for 1 minute.

Formula 4[edit]

Upon drinking this concoction, the imbiber is fully reverted into a baby. When the imbiber regrows, they tend to retain a majority of their former personality. Memories return slowly, but are incomplete, and often feel as if from a dream or a past life. Repeat uses of this formula on a single individual have not been fully tested.

Formula 5[edit]

Upon drinking this concoction, the imbiber takes 2d4+1 ability burn to their Strength, Dexterity and Constitution ability scores as the liquid takes effect. The formula restores damaged body parts from wear and tear, such as relieving arthritis, deafness, cataracts, back pain, organ failure, scars and the like. It does not restore lost parts.

Formula 6[edit]

Upon drinking this concoction, the imbiber's eyes turn a solid black and their skin turns pale. They count as an aberration when beneficial for the duration. The formula maintains system potency for a week, during which time the imbiber doesn't age. A side-effect of "a sense of a song playing" was reported in some cases, though full testing on this formula had not been made, and there may be other unknown side-effects.
