Racial Class Skills[edit]
Many common races make a disconnect from giving their members an innate racial boost to a skill and then allowing a character to actually stay good at those skills (to reinforce those traits). For example, elves are supposedly good at Listen, Search and Spot, which are all cross-class skills for their favored class of wizard. Here's a simple fix:
- Skills with racial bonuses are treated as class skills for all levels gained by the character.
- Races that gain additional skill points (such as humans) treat a single usable-untrained skill of their choice as a class skill for all levels gained by the character.
What about races with racial HD that somehow got neglected to be given racial class skills (or have so woefully few class skills for the amount of HD they have that they are otherwise forced to take lots of cross-class skills)?
- Usable-untrained skills are class skills for racial HD levels.

This alleviates some extra weird bookkeeping about half-ranks and any problems that may arise with multi-class characters. It also helps out skill point starved characters while not actually boosting any expected possible values for those skills. Seriously, give it a try. |
