Some clerics see self-sacrifice as the ultimate good in the world. It is only through this small act that one can help others to overcome their own struggles, thus ensuring that they can stand tall, helping many at the expense of one small life. The most common god who grants this domain is Ilmater, but others may also grant it, such as Mystryl or Zaltec. The followers of these gods often pierce their flesh with implements to accustom themselves to the pain they often endure, or dress in very little to expose themselves to the elements to show their willingness to share the pain of others and ensure that they do not fall.
Sacrifice Domain Spells
|1st||Armor of Agathys, Compelled Duel|
|3rd||Aid, Warding Bond|
|7th||Resilient Sphere, Stoneskin|
|9th||Circle of Power, Wall of Force|
When you choose this domain at 1st level, you gain proficiency with heavy armor.
At 1st level, you may form a bond with your allies, taking on their wounds at the expense of your own health. You gain the ability to grant an ally the effect of Warding Bond as a bonus action without expending a spell slot, and add your proficiency bonus on Constitution saves to maintain concentration on a spell when taking damage from Warding Bond. This version of Warding Bond does not require a material focus, and does not grant an increase to AC or saving throws. You may use this feature a number of times equal to the half the level of the highest-level cleric spell you could prepare (rounded up), and must finish a long rest to regain the use of this ability.
Furthermore, whenever you take damage from a Warding Bond you have active, reduce the damage taken by an amount equal to your proficiency bonus. You may spend a reaction to reduce the damage by a further amount equal to your Wisdom modifier.
Channel Divinity: Shelter from the Storm
Starting at 2nd level, you can use your Channel Divinity to protect your allies.
As an action, you can grant up to 8 allies within 30' resistance to damage until the end of your next turn.
Withstand the Torrent
Beginning at 6th level, if you would take damage from a single effect more than once due to Warding Bond (such as if both you and your ward are within the effects of a Fireball spell, or if multiple wards were within the area of effect of a Fireball), only suffer the damage once.
At 8th level, you gain the ability to infuse your weapon strikes with the sanctity of your fervor to protect your allies. Once on each of your turns when you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can cause the attack to deal an extra 1d8 radiant damage to the target. When you reach 14th level, the extra radiant damage increases to 2d8.
At 17th level, you gain the ability to make the ultimate sacrifice. As a bonus action, you immediately die. All allies under the effects of Warding Bond, or who were under the effects of Warding Bond when they died within the last minute immediately come back to life (at 0 HP), regain a number of hit points equal to the hit points you had before dying, and are cleansed of any negative effects, conditions, or spells.
After using this ability, you cannot be resurrected for at least one minute. When you finish a long rest, you regain the use of this ability.
