Silk Gun[edit]
A bit of a misnomer, the silk gun serves not as a projectile launcher, but as an extruder for creating temporary silken objects.
A silk gun is a small device, held and operated with one hand. However, reloading takes two hands and a single cartridge can be swapped in as a move action. The device is designed to hold 2 cartridges before needing to exchange them when emptied. The silk gun has various knobs and settings to adjust which mode it is in. Adjusting the knobs also requires two hands and a move action. A silk gun weighs 5 pounds, costs 45 gp and has the hardness and hit points of a projectile weapon its size.
- Rope Mode: Using a single cartridge, the silk gun extrudes 50 feet of silk rope as a full round action. If multiple cartridges are loaded in, they can be toggled to and extruded without breaking the continuity of the rope as necessary.
- Net Mode: Using a single cartridge, the silk gun can produce a reasonable fishing net as a full round action.
- Bedroll Mode: Using a single cartridge, the silk gun can spin a rolled, layered sheet of fluffier fibers suitable for sleeping, replicating a bedroll.
- Canvas Mode: Using a single cartridge, the silk gun can make 5 square yards of silken sheeting that functionally serves as canvas.
Items created can be attached to a solid surface if pressed against it when produced, such as a rope attached to an anchor or a bedroll attached to a wall to create a hammock.
Silk Gun Cartridges: A cartridge is a steel or glass flask containing an alchemical artificial "liquid silk". Unlike quality silks, the silken objects created when the material is extruded from the gun begin to deteriorate at 12 hours, becoming weak and brittle. A single cartridge weighs 5 pounds and costs 1 gp.
