Spookfruit[edit]

This purple fruit vaguely resembles a peach. It's sickeningly sweet and slightly sticky, but you can't help but feel that this fruit isn't quite all there.

A mysterious fruit that sometimes grows in places prone to being haunted or abandoned (regardless of if it actually is haunted) on small trees or root-like vines. It has a ghostly presence and different effects on the living and the dead. The fruit is ghost touched, allowing incorporeal and ethereal creatures to not merely interact, but also eat the fruit. Living creatures which consume the fruit (a full-round action for a typical Small or Medium creature) become partly ghost-touched, gaining the ghost touch weapon enhancement on their natural and unarmed strikes and the ghost touched armor enhancement to their body, allowing them to apply any natural armor (but not normal armor bonus) against incorporeal creatures. It also makes the creature solid to incorporeal beings, permitting grapple attempts, and disallowing incorporeal creatures to pass through them or possess them. This benefit lasts for 1 minute, and the living creature glows with a pale blue ectoplasmic aura while affected. After the duration, they are sickened for 1 round. More than one dose at a time causes the duration to extend, but the user is nauseated for 1 round.

Unliving creatures find the fruit delicious, and they become invigorated by the fruit, gaining the effects of false life (CL 5th) and granting them fast healing 2 for 1 minute. If they would be destroyed by being reduced to 0 hp or less, they become disabled until the duration ends and they die, or the fast healing brings them above 0 hp. Additional doses re-up the false life and resets the duration of the fast healing. They do not suffer side effects.

The fruit is said to be possible to process into other useful alchemical products, specifically as a substitute for the usual components to make ectoplasmic resin. If left to dry, it is a decent adhesive as well, on par with over-the-counter glue. Fruits usually last 1 week after they're plucked, or longer if properly stored in a cool dark place.

Cannot be crafted. Market Price 150 gp.
