Sworn Protector

You have sworn an oath to protect an individual for life, becoming their guardian in the process.

Benefit: Upon taking this feat, choose a single individual to be your ward. You gain the benefits of the Intervene feat, but only to protect your ward. When you reach BAB +6 you gain an extra attack of opportunity each round, but only for the purpose of using Intervene to protect your ward. If you have the Intervene feat you grant your ward a +2 morale bonus to AC and saving throws for 1 round after using Intervene to protect them.

Drawback: Whenever you ward takes lethal damage within your line of sight you become Shaken until you become adjacent to them. If you ward dies within line of sight of your, or learn of their violent demise, you become dazed for 1 round. Afterward you are Shaken and Sickened while mourning for 1 week, or until your ward is restored to life.

Your ward is treated as under a sanctuary (DC 15 + your character level) against you. If you have to attack your ward for any reason, you must deal nonlethal damage and any successful attack against them you make leaves you Shaken for 1 round.

Special: The Shaken and Sickened effect of this trait cannot be ended prematurely and bypass any immunities you might have. You cannot change your ward unless under particularly extraordinary circumstances.

Roleplaying Ideas: You might bear strong affection for your ward, or simply have a strong sense of duty and honor while knowingly protecting a villain.
