Pretty bare bones actually. Not flawed, as it gets the job done, but nothing really stands out as remarkable in any way. The flavor feels more like a rough draft than some of the more thorough work done by the author.

Even with an update, the flavor text still lacks something. Perhaps its the sections without any elaboration as to their societal structure or how they're viewed by their relatives (changelings and doppelgangers). Perhaps its the few errors in formatting and sentence structure that bother me as well. This really needs some love and tender care in updating. That said, there isn't anything that wrong with the mechanics in particular, so, Neutral it is.

Block Reason: This is a legacy rating from before our current ratings scale. While the reasons should be valid, it is not counted in the ratings on the article page because of the inaccurate scale.
The bulking up of their flavor really helped. What is there, I find very interesting, and the race is still balanced, so I'm bumping my favor up to "good". It's still lacking a je-ne-sais-quoi, but it's good.

Gender Mechanism[edit]

You might want to clarify what determines what gender an ambiko becomes during their mating period. --DanielDraco 04:34, November 26, 2009 (UTC)

Disguise Self[edit]

The hour per level duration is fine from a power level standpoint, but it makes some of the flavor text problematic. "Traditionally, Ambiko travel out and live with others, then return to their homelands, bearing the knowledge and gifts of other races with them." How does that even happen if you have a single hour a day out in their world? It might better match the fluff to give them a single altered face with a duration of 12 hours per casting, and keep the same times per day progression, such that they have time to do stuff with their ability and a period when they can be caught off-guard. I don't think being fixed in a particular form for 12 hours (that you get to select at cast) is particularly strong, but you could also increase the casting time to a minute or 10 if it was a concern. - TarkisFlux 01:13, December 5, 2009 (UTC)

May as well make it "24 hours until shifted", this is an old race so it's rather out of date. I haven't forgotten and will find time eventually to fluff them proper. -- Eiji Hyrule 04:30, December 5, 2009 (UTC)
