Talk:Arcenciel (3.5e Equipment)

First of all, this is the most complete Legacy weapon I have ever seen, and I must salute that. I am going to try it out in a campaign, but have a question. What is Cutting Fury's BAB? At first I thought the prices for the rituals were too high; I couldn't afford this weapon according to the WBL until level 6, and was going to make the first ritual 2000gp like the other Legacy weapons on the site. But then I read that iterative attacks use your Perform skill, which at level 3 would be 16 for me, meaning I just reached the fourth attack per round. On one hand, that seems like a lot. On the other, it's a music based attack so of course it's hard to avoid, and it's only 1D6 damage. I presume that in this case, there would also be no two-handed bonus, even though the weapon is held in two hands?

So, in case this got confusing, here are my questions:

1. How do you calculate the BAB of this weapon? 2. How many hands do you need to wield it? (I have 6 hands so that is important) 3. Any chance to get a Lyre of Building effect build in? (Just because that is thematic)

1. Weapons do not have a BAB. BAB is something that characters have. You simply use your character's BAB as derived from the classes you have. Also note that the iterative attacks you talked about use your ranks in Perform (string instruments), not the total skill modifier. So no 4 attacks at level 3, sorry.
2. However many hands you need to play a harp. So, two I'd say.
3. The theme of Arcenciel is colors and their corresponding emotions. I don't really see the thematic connection to a lyre of building, except that they're both string instruments. Still, if you want to add it in, I'd say ask your DM. --Sulacu (talk) 19:46, 17 November 2017 (MST)

Price.[edit]

Thank you very much. This makes the item much more presentable to fellow players. How did you calculate the prices? I come to 423.800 gp for the total price.

Ps: How do you reply to a reply? The Edit function? I had to use the Add Topic function.

To reply to comments, just use colons (:) to create indents where needed. Replying to a reply, just use double indents. Also, you can sign your posts by adding --~~~~ to the end of your post.
The prices are extrapolated mostly by feeling, though it does consider the straight power boost you get from unlocking the various colours in concert. The main reason why the complete item is so expensive is because it becomes incredibly powerful with the later colors, especially once you get all seven and unlock the True Arcenciel. Whether or not the price is properly chosen I cannot say for sure due to the lack of proper playtesting.
If you do decide to use it in your game, I'd be interested to learn how it works out for you. --Sulacu (talk) 16:42, 18 November 2017 (MST)
