Wondering[edit]

If you are in battle, and losing, can you just full-round yourself into a chrysalis and just spend a day or two in there, till you heal back up to full health, then burst out and continue fighting? You are immune to attack while in there, after all. --Mock Turtle 15:12, February 14, 2010 (UTC)

Theoretically, yes, but in practicality, no. Since the chrysalis is vulnerable to the same effects as a resilient sphere, a well-prepared opponent can probably break it without too much trouble. If anything, it's most practical use is most likely as a resting aid to make it so you don't need to be healed. Its use in combat probably shouldn't be your first option. Now, if you're desperate and about to die, it could save your life (which is a good thing), but since no encounter would last the amount of time needed for your to fully regenerate, the scenario of them waiting around for you to come out doesn't seem likely. - TG Cid 17:27, February 14, 2010 (UTC)
Well, what if you are fighting a flock of Rocs? They wouldn't have the means to use a magic item to get you out, or have any spells to use against it either. --Mock Turtle 06:37, February 15, 2010 (UTC)
I would hope that a flock of rocs wouldn't pose enough of a challenge to require you to use the chrysalis. My only real reply is that once they realize you are invulnerable, the rocs will fly away and the encounter will be over before you are sufficiently healed. Not too much different that a wizard trapping himself in, no? - TG Cid 22:24, February 15, 2010 (UTC)

Why[edit]

I am a long time fan of the Hivemaster and after checking caterpillar recently I noticed the change in the level 11 ability. Why was this change made and can I continue to use the old version?

I wouldn't stop you from using the old version at all, but I don't think I would change this version as it stands. The reason for the change is because Constitution damage is an insanely powerful thing, especially when the hivemaster racks up natural attacks extremely easily through other Aspect feats. The chrysalis ability allowed me to put in something that would not only be a powerful defensive tool but also something unique that other Hivemaster feats didn't necessarily offer, so I thought it was a better choice that an abuse-worthy Constitution damage dealer. - TG Cid 04:57, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
