Groundhog Day[edit]

Is the watch re-created? -- Eiji-kun 10:05, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

And if so, doing this repeatedly will make a lot of women that are giving birth that day very angry. --Aarnott 18:34, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
The watch was whole at the time, Eiji, and the Balefire Pocket Watch is part of "everything except memories". No, Aarnott, doing this repeatedly will get you further back in time, so they won't be quite as angry. --Foxwarrior 18:55, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
Right. Of course, if you can stay alive for a day each time you do this, then cue angry birthing mothers. Also, you should define "the world". Otherwise, you can spend infinite time in some Genesis created plane (aka "The Hyperbolic Time Chamber"). Which I guess is fine for an artifact. --Aarnott 19:22, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
No no no, the world is everywhere except the past, the future, and the alternate world. No avoiding side effects for you. Unless you find an alternate universe with nobody in it. --Foxwarrior 19:29, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

I was just talking about how much I like this artifact in the chatroom. It is a unique spin on the whole groundhog day timetravel in that everyone goes back in time. That's just such a cool concept. This item could be in the hands of the PCs and not be some totally broken story-breaking item. If anything, I can imagine campaigns entirely based on the premise of the PCs having this item. Awesome!

Update since I wrote this: I ran a short 8-session campaign based on this artifact and it was totally sweet.

As an artifact, this cannot be created, and it's effect is a treasure-horde of roleplaying possibilities. I would probably add a limiting factor to how often it can be used, but otherwise, very well-executed.

I'm thinking of giving this to a villain in one of my future games. I could see some enjoyable stuff going on there.
