Suggestions[edit]

I ran across this class randomly, and it amuses me greatly. I think it could benefit from some improvised "instruments" to better facilitate rage/singing though. While shout/singing doesn't need any love, bardbarians wielding an axe could play it as a stringed instrument (cause it's an "axe"), those wielding bludgeoning weapon (club or mace) could play it as a percussion instrument (on their enemies or the floor, whatever), etc. - Tarkisflux 23:47, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Here's an attempt for you. --Foxwarrior 02:58, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
I like the idea, but I don't know how you start a bardic music ability using perform (strings) with an axe in hand, or percussion for that matter. I think you need to be able to play your actual weapon as an instrument before that ability means anything for anything other than perform (dance).
Side note, spiked chains and flails could be perform (winds) if you wanted to stretch fluff a lot (spinning them through the air to make different pitch sounds). - Tarkisflux 05:17, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

Balance[edit]

I'm not sure this is actually rogue level. The Bard is rogue, and the barbrian is fighter, and there's not a lot of synergy between the two so you're going to be hurt a bit by the multi-class before this PrC happens. The half-casting progression doesn't help fix that pain at all, which is somewhat beside the fact that half-bard casting is not good in the first place.

I'm not going to back up my assertion with math or anything because I'm feeling lazy at present, I just wanted to point it out. - Tarkisflux 23:53, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

It's a bit stronger now. Backing up assertions with math is for people who are being disagreed with. --Foxwarrior 02:58, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
Need to ponder the revised spell casting progression more... my gut says that it would probably be fine to just give them full progression (changing out the generic arcane part for specific bard progression) since they don't get the standard bard/barbarian class upgrades (not that the barb ones matter much) and are probably losing a level getting the PrC anyway (barring cheese that I'm sure exists somewhere). I'm just not sure there's an actual argument there and not just me wanting power out of it. - Tarkisflux 05:17, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
Ahaha. Specific bard progression. I probably should have written it like that in the first place. Apart from casting, the Bard doesn't get a great deal, though, so I'm not entirely sure that missing only one casting level is going to be enough. --Foxwarrior 05:43, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
They're losing the bardic music upgrades, which can be turned to quite good use elsewhere, and gaining some rage benefits and limitation reduction instead. I don't think they're getting put ahead of a standard bard here (in general, they stomp them in melee combat of course), so I'm going to suggest that it's either fine or not a significantly different power scale as to push them up or down a balance level. - Tarkisflux 08:28, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

Dem Saves[edit]

Another class with all bad saves but no reason for it. What's up with that? -- Eiji-kun (talk) 03:30, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
