Scaling[edit]

I don't know much about the force powers, so I can't rate it just yet, but if I am reading correctly you will eventually end up with +10 buffs for allies and -10 penalties for enemies. I'd have to agree with Ghost, those numbers are simply too extreme. If you cap them (and probably cap them low considering the extent of things) it should be fine. I recommend +3 at most. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 11:16, 3 December 2016 (UTC)

At 20... you get +10 attack and they get -10AC. +20 net benefit to hit them, so you can pretty much hit anyone ever. They get -10 attack and you get +10 AC. -20 net penalty to hit you, and you can basically never be hit ever. Win every brawl ever. Nope. - Tarkisflux Talk 20:23, 3 December 2016 (UTC)
I'll lower the scaling a lot and would it be better if I changed its rank higher, to V(unlocks at level 10 I believe) and changed the enemy debuff to shaken, to imitate bless and doom but with scaling? Also unless there is a prestige I don't know about it caps at level 10, +5 to all, instead of level 20 since Jedi is a 10 level class which is why I made it scale every 2 levels - Aeturo (Aeturo|talk) 21:19, 3 December 2016 (UTC)
There are a few ways to artificially scale levels, such as bloodlines and similar things. +/-5 (+/-10, effectively) is still way too big of a change on the RNG IMO. If you modeled it after Inspire Courage (or a similar penalty) that would be a decent start, but it should only be one of those, as that is the bard's main shtick, and it should be the core of what you do, not just an afterthought. --Ghostwheel (talk) 21:26, 3 December 2016 (UTC)
Sorry I guess I got too caught up in source material where it applies boons and penalties to the user's allies and enemies, respectively. If I did change it to the Harbinger Bard's version of inspire courage(it lowers enemy abilities the way Inspire Courage brings them up) and changed its scaling to once every 3 levels in the Jedi class, a 10 level class capping it at -3, do you think that would be better balanced? I will also remove that it applies to AC. I agree that's a little much. I did this while tired and guess I wasn't thinking- Aeturo (talk) 21:36, 3 December 2016 (UTC)
Alright I lowered the range, changed it to a pure debuff instead of both, capped it at 3 and changed its scaling to once every 3 levels, and removed the AC penalty. I'm contemplating changing it to a rank IV ability so the Jedi would get it at level 8 instead of 5 or 6 (can't remember off the top of my head) - Aeturo (talk) 22:44, 3 December 2016 (UTC)
Much better IMO. --Ghostwheel (talk) 23:02, 3 December 2016 (UTC)
