A Bit More[edit]

This is definitely better than SRD "on fire" but it still doesn't feel all that painful to be on fire (1 HP per HD per round is really not much at all). I'd suggest adding what Red Rob did for his "on fire" rules, which is: Any character that suffers any damage due to Burning takes a -2 penalty to all attack rolls, skill rolls, ability checks and saving throws for 1 round. Creatures that are Mindless or that do not feel pain may ignore this effect.

Also, is it expected that effects that cause Burning will list their duration, so there's nothing here to say how to stop Burning? Surgo (talk) 17:17, 28 September 2014 (UTC)

This isn't just supposed to be being "on fire", but any DoT. Thus, I don't really want additional status effects--if someone is actually on fire, then the DM can certainly levy any penalties they deem fit that seem appropriate for the situation. Regarding putting it out, I would argue that most effects don't have the ability to stop them, and if one were to use this, I'd expect they add a way to remove the status effect if there is any way to do so, so I'd leave that up to the specific author. --Ghostwheel (talk) 20:48, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
It's not supposed to be any DoT either, just a particularly painful "burning"-like effect which is why I figured the on-fire-like penalty would be appropriate. Also if this is supposed to replace On Fire (I thought it was, if it wasn't then nevermind) it should probably at least have an example method of putting it out for that specifically. Right--it doesn't "replace" the status effect "On Fire", but I would imagine that if such a status effect were to be reworked, it would say something along the lines of "Suffers from Burning, take -2 penalty to rolls, can be put out by XYZ" or something similar. --Ghostwheel (talk) 13:23, 30 September 2014 (UTC)
