This is not wizard level. The ability to take 10 on attack rolls is good, but not worth a standard action. This doesn't hold up to other wizard level feats.--ParakeeTalk 12:25, 28 July 2011 (UTC)

There was a conversation about this. It's with the combination that should you have missed, you didn't actually attack that makes it Wizard level. --Havvy 17:06, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
Huh? Can you spell out the argument on that Havvy? That doesn't seem like it would be that big of a deal, especially with the 50% change of losing per day abilities anyway. - Tarkisflux Talk 18:29, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
Posted logs. (Don't post in that section). Basically, if you are firing impossible shots, you will only shoot if you hit. This has huge ramifications in certain competitions. "First to miss the target loses...can shoot whenever." Also, shooting at things where only a natural 20 would allow a hit...such as the rope of a noose on your ally while you are hidden. If you couldn't make the shot, you don't make it, and remain hidden.
I thought this looked familiar. I'm not convinced that awesomeness in those somewhat contrived situations makes this wizard level. In the first case you just leave saying you'll take the shot next year or whenever, in other cases you're under time constraints where your ability to re-roll until you make it may not actually matter. That's before we get to the fact that those somewhat contrived situations are so specific as to not occur with any regularity in game, and being extra-awesome in very limited circumstances does not wizard level make IMO. I apparently didn't make the case when it first came up though, which was silly of me.

07:12:08: <Tarkisflux> hrm
07:12:09: <EntropicHavvy> Low wizard, but still wizard IMO
07:12:24: <EntropicHavvy> Needs another feat afterwards to get High Wizard.
07:12:38: <Tarkisflux> yeah... there's some crazy tricks you could probably do with the "not actually fired" thing
07:13:33: <Undead_Knave> 2Sniping, for example.
07:13:48: <Undead_Knave> 2You could just wait until you get that 20 you needed.
07:14:10: <EntropicHavvy> Undead_Knave: You take 10 as part of it.
07:14:24: <Undead_Knave> 2But you don't need to.
07:14:51: <Tarkisflux> no, but a non-20 hit is still a hit, you can't cancel it
07:15:04: <Tarkisflux> though if you need a 20 to hit, you can just do that
07:15:06: <Undead_Knave> 2True.
07:15:16: <Undead_Knave> 2Right.
07:15:18: <Tarkisflux> so, max range sniping, reroll until hit
07:15:32: <Tarkisflux> yay auto-success rules
