I don't know that scaling damage and scaling AoE is workable in a spell slot setup. I'd probably ditch the AoE. I have mixed feelings on scaling the damage to the higher of you or the user though. It lets you put it on nobodies to get them to contribute and it lets you have your cohort cast it on you to gain more than their CL would otherwise grant. I think going with the lesser of your CR or your target's CR might work better.

The recharge simplification is quite nice though, as is the ability to alternate between lines and cones and weapon strikes. The weapon might need a bit of love though, since it's pretty weak compared to the other ones. A 5' or 10' burst centered on you when you make your first successful strike might work, with the struck target not receiving a save. - Tarkisflux Talk 06:15, 8 September 2012 (UTC)

I'd be OK with making the AoE no longer scaling, and probably just going by size or whatever, as well as making it the lesser of the two damage counts. As far as the weapon part goes, though, I'm not sure it's actually all that much weaker given that it doesn't offer a save. My alternative as far as the weapon is concerned might be to apply it to all attacks in return for less bonus dice and then see where it goes from there. - TG Cid 15:25, 8 September 2012 (UTC)
Basing AoE on target size could work pretty well actually, and sounds good. I don't know if no-save is worth single target instead of potentially lots of targets (especially if it scales with size), but I don't think it's a big enough worry to mess around with changing the dice available when you use it. - Tarkisflux Talk 15:39, 8 September 2012 (UTC)
Made it based on size and added a slightly modified version of the true dragon size table for reference. - TG Cid (talk) 16:53, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
