17d10+170 no save damage to everyone within a 40' radius is probably too good for a full-round action 9 (or a 1 round for that matter). The closest point of comparison is wail of the banshee, and this spell is probably stronger due to the lack of save and auto-stun / prone. Then there's the second round area on top, which is almost as good as my (probably needs to be brought down slightly anyway) nine acre fire. Yeah, it's fire damage and there are fire immune creatures out there, but still. Probably needs to be dialed back in general, possibly making the actual strike single target or 10' radius even. - Tarkisflux Talk 21:59, 10 September 2012 (UTC)

Or alternatively, allow a saving throw to avoid being stunned and knocked down.Fluffykittens (talk) 07:10, 7 November 2012 (UTC)
Bumping this for emphasis, this is 17d10+170 no save damage. That's not even including the status effects/battlefield control. Absurdity? Absurdity. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 05:32, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

I would Half the Area making it a 20'radius stun/prone, 120' explosion of fire. the massive 280 fog cloud actually makes perfect sense. add in a material component like a 'piece of burning coal'.

as a power-gamer i LOVE the fact that this spell has no max... but seeing as i have spellcaster levels of 79+ i can't use this because it's TOO powerful(even for me...)

most players play on a grid of 5' squares meaning 40'radius is 1/4th the battle-map & 280 is the whole map. if you have any melee in that battle they're screwed (unless you have archmage high arcana Mastery of shaping) even with the advised nerfs to 20'radius this is still an VERY powerful spell. but sorry to say it tarkisflux, 10'radius is too small. I can't say the idea of someone having 79+ levels concerns me at all~as far as this particular spell goes. By that point you are into levels of the game that are so high that if you aren't one-shotting everything on earth at once, you are pretty much doing something wrong. Plus, this is supposed to be the pinnacle of magical ability as far as core rules are concerned, so having no maximum is no problem in my view.
As for the radius, that has already been pointed out above, so I went for the middle ground of a 15 foot radius, making the initial AoE for max damage equivalent to wail of the banshee and also shrinking the secondary blast radius. - TG Cid (talk) 21:00, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
good well-considered changes, i wonder what the look on my DM's face is going to look like when i hit him with this... and i fear what my face will look like when my players turn it against me... Snafusam 05:54, 18 April 2013

Great work making this and thank you for uploading/updating it :D (i have to agree if your not one-shotting everything at spellcaster level 79+ your doing something wrong lol.) but our play-style seperates the classes so a lvl 25succubi(epic savage species homebrew)/20sorcerer/7wizard is pretty much still a level 25 succubi/sorcerer. with the fact we as a group like to challange each-others DM capabilities. we wind up fighting monsters with 5000hp/50ac and random made-up magical properties... (i've tried keeping it understandable and even uploaded some of our insanity...) Snafusam 06:01, 18 April 2013

Sorry to interrupt, but I was wondering how in sweet hell can you manage to come up with a caster level of 79 in the first place? Also why in hell would anyone take 20 levels of sorcerer? -HarrowedMind (talk) 16:45, 19 April 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for the commendation, but the risk of driving this totally off the spell here I have to wonder about that build as well. Especially given that caster levels from multiple casting classes don't stack, giving practically zero reason to ever multiclass as a caster. That said, you mentioned Savage Species, so I would have been out of there before that even became a possibility. - TG Cid (talk) 19:05, 19 April 2013 (UTC)
ECL is based on Char lvl, so addition. "caster levels from multiple casting classes don't stack" true, but the ECL does and spells from multiple classes are what was needed. sense the "epic succubi" (basic is 12, I'm 25) was a homebrew there are 2 abilities that make it work. http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/the-life-of-evil/characters/kazehana (Special Abilities) looking back i probably should have stopped at sorcerer15 & gotten archmage5 or something...

the challange with using the earlier version A, letting my team live and B, not suffocating... bright side a lot of death!
