I really want to like this creature, but having faced displacer beasts before, I can attest that 50% miss chance makes for an incredibly long, boring, frustrating, rage-inducing combat that sucks all the fun out of the game (made even worse by its naturally high AC). It's just a deal-breaker for me. If you'd like to fix this and still keep the flavor, I'd give it the miss chance against non-magical weapons and attacks, and have magical attacks and weapons automatically pierce the 50% (they're MAGIC). That would still give it the flavor and stop it from being hit by the majority of creatures it finds in the wild without adding a massive amount of anti-fun to an encounter.

While I agree the 50% can be excessive my feeling toward it is pretty neutral. I really like the flavor and monster otherwise. Suggested fix: Maybe lower it to 20% or does the magic weapon thing like Ghostwheel pointed out.

I disagree about the 50% thing. They're basically incorporeal for all intents and purposes, and should be fought as such (force attacks and ghost touch, or multiple attacks). Even so, while the AC should actually be average for 8th I do note that it needn't have average AC given its demi-blinking. So I may alter that. (EDIT: And so I have. -4 AC, +4 Eijiness.) -- Eiji-kun 09:46, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
