Capstone[edit]

Too strong? Too weak? Should it be at 1/2 BAB for both CL and spells/day? Full BAB for both? Full BAB for one and 1/2 for the other? Unsure. --Ghostwheel (talk) 19:02, 7 February 2013 (UTC)

Example & Balance[edit]

Isn't your example wrong? Rage Mage says under Spellcasting Progression that the second and third levels of Rage Mage grant casting levels, so shouldn't the Barbarian 16 / Wizard 1 / Rage Mage 3 be able to cast scorching rays? Also, it's very hard to balance something at High Balance when you're apparently merging a Moderate balance class (or not) with a Very High balance one. Is the claim that a Wizard X who can cast rage/Rage Mage 3 is High balance? I'm confused. --Foxwarrior (talk) 23:22, 9 February 2013 (UTC)

Spellcasting does not necessarily imply VH balance -- for a rather extreme example, take the Healer. This PrC is not specifically written for VH spellcasters, so it's reasonable to think that it's meant to be used with H spellcasters. And then the question would become, does the spellcaster remain H after taking this class? If yes, it's on the mark. --DanielDraco (talk) 08:27, 10 February 2013 (UTC)
Well, yes, but the examples always use a Wizard, and rage can only be cast by Wizards, Sorcerers, Clerics, and Bards (which Ghostwheel has been quite definite about being VH before). --Foxwarrior (talk) 08:35, 10 February 2013 (UTC)
Something I have a problem with is that the Rage Mage, especially with it's last class feature, is obviously meant for a character that merely dabbles in wizardry, going from the example character. A character who dipped into Barbarian instead of the other way around, or someone who just uses the Rage spell, does not benefit at all from their caster level changing to their pitiful BAB, and his spells as half Char Level. Some of us Rage Mages have more than half Character level in the base casting class!
It just seems like the Rage Mage only makes Barbarians who dip in casting viable build for this PrC. Is this intentional? If so, how about a reversal class, that favors casters who dip? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.62.98.200 (talkcontribs) at
First, casters benefit just fine from the first two class level.
Second, do you have any suggestions on how to change/add to the third-level ability to favor casters equally?
EDIT: Added a bonus to caster level for caster rage mages so they have a reason as well to take the third level, which they should like as most spells that Spell Fury adds to are caster-level based. Also added a nice buff while ragin' and magin'. --Ghostwheel (talk) 18:20, 19 September 2013 (UTC)
