Questions[edit]

whats arcane hunter (you have it at ranger lvl 1), how do you keep getting skirmish bonuses, and at ranger lvl 2, you say you get +2 acrobatics and ki dodge. --Lord Mattos 23:31, December 15, 2009 (UTC)

  1. Lets you have Favored Enemy against spellcasting foes.
  2. See the Swift Hunter feat in Complete Scoundrel.
  3. Fixed, thanks for catching that.
Anything else? :-) --Ghostwheel 23:48, December 15, 2009 (UTC)
How about wood elf for race, they have ranger as favored class. no XP penalty! And Arrow Storm spell would also be good. You get to fire one arrow at each target within 1 range increment. --Lord Mattos 23:51, December 15, 2009 (UTC)
No one of note actually uses the XP penalties--they're really, really dumb :-/ That said, this class is as much a skill monkey as it is an archer, so -2 to Int would hurt considerably.
And if you've got any suggestions for more spells (Hunter's Eye, Hunter's Mercy, Arrow Storm), you're more than welcome to add em --Ghostwheel 23:57, December 15, 2009 (UTC)
Well the only books with spells that i have are phb and complete adventurer, looking for more from Christmas :-). Let's see... Exacting Shot (automatically confirm crits w/ ranged weapon against favored enemy), maybe Foebane? --Lord Mattos 00:09, December 16, 2009 (UTC)

Three feats at first level?[edit]

How are you getting more than a single feat at first level? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.26.137.56 (talkcontribs) at

Flaws (Unearthed Arcana) --NameViolation 15:38, April 11, 2010 (UTC)
See here for more details. -- Jota 17:42, April 11, 2010 (UTC)

Damage Breakdown[edit]

i get all the damage modifiers except 5d6+5 (Magic) ... what are you drawing this value from? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.35.161.95 (talkcontribs) at

+5 shocking/flaming/frost/whatever bow. --Ghostwheel (talk) 06:20, 21 May 2013 (UTC)

Missing 'favored enemy' choice?[edit]

Swift Hunter feat: " ... Your ranger and scout levels also stack for the purpose of determining when you select additional favored enemies, as well as the total bonus granted against your favored enemies. For example, a 4th-level scout/1st-level ranger would have two favored enemies and could allocate an extra +2 bonus against one of those favored enemies, as if she were a 5th-level ranger."

According to this, since "Swift Hunter" is acquired, the total ranger level should be considered 5 and thus a second favored choice should be taken at that time (and a total of five should be chosen by level 20, rather than the 4 assigned) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.70.84.227 (talkcontribs) at

The class has that. The first favored enemy slot is taken up by Arcane Hunter ACF. --Ghostwheel (talk) 15:03, 17 April 2014 (UTC)

Multi-class rules[edit]

This build has 4 levels of Scout and 16 levels of Ranger. I see you are drawing class features from the Scout above 4th level and at some levels you are drawing 2 feats. This goes against multi-class rules. What am I missing?
