Balance[edit]

To anyone who thinks that a total rage bonus of +14 as an 12th level character is over powered at all, should look at the Bear Warrior prestige class on page 16 of the Complete Warrior book. The class requires Rage and +7 BAB to enter, so you can have it as your 8th level. On level 5 of that class (12th level character total) the user can turn into a Brown Bear when raging to gain +16 Str, +2 Dex and +8 Con and then at level 10 prestige class (level 17th level character total) the user can become a Dire Bear while raging and gain +20 Str, +2 Dex and +8 Con. This feat is well within WotC guidelines. The-Marksman (talk) 07:43, 14 April 2019 (MDT)

Very poor analogy. Most of your damage a lot of the time comes from a two-handed weapon with power attack, especially with Shock Trooper and other power attack-boosting abilities. Bear warriors can't use two-handed weapons while raging, which is a huge demerit. Next up, the form (at 5th level of bear warrior) can only be assumed 2x per day. Third, he can be knocked out of it without too much trouble (calm emotions, dispel magic, etc). Fourth, he's not getting virtually anything else while taking the class. Fifth, while in bear form, he has no way to switch methods of attack, relying virtually entirely on his claws. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, you lose the benefits of many items you were wearing, especially if the DM decides that they don't "fit" your new form. Rings? Gone. +5 Greataxe of Deadly Smash? Unusable. +6 Gauntlets of Strength? Probably doesn't fit. And more. In short, your analogy between the two classes is a poor one. For the bear warrior, you're giving up a lot by going into bear form, which might not be visible at first glance. --Ghostwheel (talk) 07:54, 14 April 2019 (MDT)
First, complete warrior is well established canon. Not some random homebrew. Second, even dull bear claws are attached to a bear. A BEAR! Additionally, the HP, increase in size and special attacks overpower this feat. Third, the amount of Ki points needed to use this feat are astronomical, to the point that a player takes a serious cost to using it. Which also cuts into their ability to use other ki abilities. In fact, my only criticism is how painful the cost is. Lastly, this feat is near to the power of the bear warrior -- an established published class.--Franken Kesey 10:50, 16 April 2019 (MDT)

Trap feat that makes you worse rather than better.

Technically its not making you worse. You're sacrificing some dex and movement speed for enhanced strength, powerful build and better damage reduction during your transformation. The-Marksman (talk) 15:25, 11 March 2019 (MDT)
